Regular Council Meeting
4-21-08
Page 15

For the purposes of the audience and all present, Council President Buckholtz stated that
we are talking about voting to go out to bid, not to build the police station. We will look at the
bids and decide from there. Mr. Marrie added there has been so much serious talk and studying
done by a lot of people, it's time to do something. Let's put it out for bid. What are we waiting
for? We just about beat this thing to death. This has been nitpicked to death. We have gone
through what we can save on. Let's put it out for bid and we will finally see what it is. If we
don't we will be talking about this next year.
Council President Buckholtz indicated that the one procedural thing is to go through the
list of recommendations that we want to add at this time. If we are ready to vote, what
modifications should be recommended?
Mr. Marrelli suggested we read the list into the record, one line item at a time. Council
President Buckholtz agreed and asked him to read the whole thing. We will then put it to a vote
as modified. Ms. Calta advised that it is better to read it through the record.
Mr. Marrelli stated that he is reading off of the April 3, 2008 letter from Pat Dearden to
the Mayor (a copy of which is attached to these Minutes).
001 -
002A -
Costs attributable to "LEED" construction $31,600.00
- We will stay on track with this.
Elimination of storage area #213 $144,400.00
- The Finance Committee requested that we stay with this.
Dr. Parker mentioned that from our last meeting, it seemed like that was not a
necessary item. While he was for the extra bay, he is not in favor of maintaining
that.
003 - Remove landscaping from project $35,000.00
- It was agreed to do this in-house
004 - Raising concrete footer $14,000.00
- We want to do that.
006 - Reduction in quantity of concrete curbing $4,000.00
- We are going to incorporate that.

007 - Use of asphalt paving in lieu of concrete $64,500.00
- We want to do that.
