First Reading of Ordinance No. 2008-26, entitled ""An ordinance authorizing and <br />directing the Mayor to negotiate and enter into a non-drilling, non-trespassing oil and gas <br />lease with Seagull Development Corp. regarding certain property known as Permanent <br />Parcel Nos. 831-40-001 (10 acres) located on the corner of Bonnieview Road and Beech <br />Hill Road." Introduced by Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole. <br />This Ordinance will be left on First Read. <br />NY OTHER 1VIATTERS : <br />Council President Buckholtz asked if there were any additional comments. <br />Council President Buckholtz brought up that there have been some people looking at the <br />house across the way for the possibility of putting in something like a coffee shop or an ice cream <br />store. They have had their own people coming in to look at whether that building would be better <br />knocked down or remodeled. It is just a preliminary idea, but they have been in there assembling <br />an idea of what we would have to do and what they would have to do if we want to make a <br />courtyard and have some amenities. We can discuss this at Caucus and committees. There are <br />good people involved in this. It seems like something we want to stay in touch with. <br />Mr. Marrelli reminded everyone to try and come to tomorrow evening's Planning <br />Development meeting at 7:00 p.m. if they can. Mayor Rinker added that this is something that <br />the Committee has been working on in conjunction with Planning and Zoning. A lot of the <br />people in Planning Development are P&Z members. The fact that we have something really <br />tangible to look at is something he would recommend everyone attend. <br />A member in the audience requested the opportunity to address Council. <br />Gordon Nichols <br />6460 North Aintree Drive <br />Mr. Nichols stated that three years ago he asked about the sidewalk program going on <br />behind Heinen's. They are in bad shape. Who is responsible for that? Mayor Rinker replied each <br />property owner is. <br />Mr. Nichols asked about where the manholes are. Mayor Rinker said if they are in the <br />right of way, it should be ours. Mr. Metzung replied that when those have become an issue, we <br />have paid for that. Mr. Nichols asked if anyone has gone around and looked at them. Mr. <br />Metzung said they have not done that. <br />Mr. Nichols asked about the sidewalks that are cracked. If that is the homeowner's <br />responsibility, when do you send out a notice. Mayor Rinker said we have tried to do programs. <br />Mr. Nichols asked if there is a program going on now.
