Regular Council Meeting Minutes 11-17-08 Page 5 PARKS & RECREATION - Bill Thomas Mr. Thomas stated that the Thomas family wanted to thank everyone for their support and prayers on the loss of his father. They appreciate it very much. ARCHITECT - Ron DiNardo There was nothing to report. HUMAN SERVICES - Eunice Kalina Mrs. Kalina reported that they went to Carousel last week for All Shook Up. They did not fill the bus, but received a gift certificate to use at another time, so it wasn't a total loss. Those who went had a really good time. In December they have a trip downtown to the Rockettes. They have only three seats left. They are j oining with Mayfield Heights to offer senior classes. The company servicing our classes made a commitment with Tri-C and they were not able to work it out timewise; when our community room was available, he wasn't. Mayfield Heights has had trouble filling their classes, so we are going to have a joint venture. An AARP safe driving class is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 8:30, weather permitting. There are 19 people signed up for that. They are working on their holiday party, scheduled for December 13`n STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS: Activities Committee - Mrs. Mills reported the Committee met on October 29`h. They discussed the summer concerts and holiday events. The tree lighting ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, December 71h. The Santa Ride with the Mayor is set for 10:30 a.m. They will be at the Civic Center around 1:30 on the 7th for pictures and treats. The Winter Solstice is scheduled for the 19tn at Parkview Pool. That's really a nice event. The Menorah Lighting is set for December 21St. The Singing Angels will also be on the 21St. There will be a mitten tree over at Charter One Bank. If you are attending any of these affairs, bring some canned goods. These food centers really need the canned goods. Their shelves are getting bare. Our next meeting is December 2°a Architectural Review Board - Mr. Marrelli reported that Architectural Review Board met on the 13t of November. *They approved a sign for Whitehaven to replace the old one. Beautification- Mr. Saponaro reported that the Beautification Committee did not meet since the last report. There was an item on the agenda. tonight to be approved. Mr. Saponaro asked that that item be.removed so we can go back to committee and look at a few items on it as well. Board of Appeals - Mr. Marrelli stated that there was no meeting. There is no report. Cemeterv - There is no report.
