Regular Council Meeting
1-26-04
Page 5
_ .?Building Department - Mr. Samac said the Progressive project is moving slowly at this time
due to the weather. We will be having the Skoda, Minotti project coming to Council probably at
our next meeting. It is going in front of the Planning Commission next week. They hope to get
started with building construction in the spring.
Fire Denartment - Chief Mohr said we are working on a program for the senior citizens. We
have found that numerous times we will respond to senior and shut-ins that they are the only
ones there with no family members there and they are in need of inedical help. We can put
something like a residential knox box or lock box that allows us a key to get in without doing
any damage to the house so we will start looking at that.
Finance Denartment - Mr. Brett said I am working on the 2004 budget for the Mayor. We
closed the books this morning for 2003. Our overall cash balance in the General Fund was up
$400,000 overall; in the cash fund for all funds was up a million dollars over the prior year and
that is even with the large amounts of money that we are advancing on the S.O.M. Center Road
project. That figure is probably more realistically $1.5 million higher than the previous year's
balances. Despite the fact that some revenues were flat last year, overall the cash balances of the
Village are increasing.
Parks & Recreation - Mr. Thomas said this past Saturday we had the best ice conditions for our
Mayfield Village outdoor ice rink for Ice Daze.
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Activities Committee - Mrs. Roman said there was no report.
Architectural Review Board - Mr. Samac said we had an Architectural Review Board meeting
on January 8 where a residential addition wras approved.
Board of Anneals - Mr. Samac said there was no meeting.
Cemeterv - Mr. Saponaro said there was no report.
CitYZen's Advisorv Committee - Mr. Saponaro said there was no report.
Commission on Asting - Mrs. Mills read the report from Mrs. Kalina (attached.)
Finance Committee - Council President Buckholtz said Mrs. Mills is still Chairman. Mrs.
Cinco reported for Mrs. Mills (as Mrs. Mills had no voice):
The Committee recommended Items #1, 2, (this is a wash as the money is collected from the
residents); 3, 4, (as this has already been done); 5, 6, (every municipality provides the same
amount); 7, 8, 9, (this replaces a 7-year-old car radio system); 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 (as noted and
per Mr. Samac's memo even though this was approved it probably won't be done for some time
but he needs to show the residents that we accepted the idea for the fencing); 15 (contingent on
the sharing of the cost with the school); 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 (my understanding is we
