Regular Council Meeting
2-16-04
Page 2
. -.?
?
COMIVIENTS FROM MAYOR RINKER - Oaths of Office
Mayor Rinker introduced John Marrelli who will be replacing Bernie Samac as our Building
Commissioner. As much as we hate to see Bernie go, I think that we can safely say that this .
will be a very smooth transition and we look forward to good things to come.
Mayor Rinker administered the oath of office to John Marrelli as Building
Commissioner.
Mayor Rinker said it is my distinct pleasure to swear in two new Sergeants for our Police
Department: Paul Jablonski and Douglas Sullivan.
Doug is 48-years old; a 25-year veteran of the Department. He lives in Wickliffe with his 3
daughters. He is a former MP. He went to Central Texas College in the Criminal Justice Field.
He was a full-time patrolman starting in 1979. He has been a field training officer, scored
highest on the test and a welcome addition as a Sergeant.
Paul is a little bit younger but has proven himself very well; he has been on the Detective
Bureau. We welcome you on board. We have had a number of transitions just in the last year
alone both in police and fire departments. I think we can safely say that our safety personnel are
among the best around and we appreciate their dedication to service.
m?
? ¦ Mayor Rinker administered the oath of office to Doug Sullivan and Paul Jablonski as
Police Sergeants.
Council President Buckholtz said we will take a short break and will get on to business in a few
minutes.
Council recessed for approximately 15 minutes, reconvening at 8:20 p.m.
Oath of Office - 2020 Implementation Committee
Mayor Rinker said Bob Haycox is a member of the 2020 Implementation Committee. Bob has
put a lot of good energy into this. The proposed report that is the product of almost 1%2 years of
people who volunteered their time for this is going to be in front of Planning and Zoning
Commission and thereafter in front of Council. I think what I am most gratified of is not only
the work product itself-we have it posted on the web-so now is a good chance to preview it,
see what P&Z and Council will be looking at. We are really encouraging a lot more input across
the community. I think the work product itself speaks to a good cross-section, a good
combination of us. Overall, we are glad that you are involved and glad that you're sticking
around for the implementation process as well.
¦ Mayor Rinker administered the oath of office to Robert Haycox as a member of the
2020 Implementation Committee.
