KALINA, M.A.
Director of Human Services
COUNCIL REPORT
April 26, 2004

?
Council members should have received a detailed report on my
transportation findings with TC3. I have also spoken with and received
information from a company called Prolfide A Ride. The latter's financial
figures only for individuals requiring transportation wliich are quite
costly ($30 each way, base rate plus $2.25 per mile or $35 per hour with
a four hour minimum obligation). The president of the company could not
give me an idea of what he would charge the Village without knowing more
exact anticipated usage.
A portion of my VOV art,,,,,,`cle contains a•questionnaire regarding needs
and usage of van transportation. This type of questionnaire was
published several years ago with very little response. Since our
current senior population is approximately one-third of our total
population perhaps response will be better this time. It was almost
non-existent previously.
It would be my recommendation at this time that Council approve our
applying to TC3 for our community to become a partner. There is no
guarantee that we will be accepted, and if we are not accepted, further
investigation can be carried out with other agencies. Based on responses
received after the next issue of the VOV, we can better assess our needs
as well.
Last month I attended two sessions (March 9 and 23) of the Community
Congress hosted by and partially sponsored by Notre Dame College. The
programs were focused on building good relationships among diverse
members of communities in the Hillcrest areas.
Wednesday the seniors have a trip to the Botanical Gardens and the
Planetarium at the Natural History Museum. Another trip is slated for
July 22 when we will return to Wooster College for Ohio Light Opera'a
presentation of South Pacific.
