Regular Council Minutes
4-26-04
Page 5
Philip Brett (Finance)
Mr. Brett said I passed out again, as I did last month, an overview of income tax receipts for the
year and explained a little bit to Finance Committee that as of April's distribution we are at about
28% above last year's level and about $839,000 ahead of where we were last year. On the other
side, again, is just an overview of where we are from the funds, standing a little down from last
month; a little over $5 million in cash; a little over 2.3 in unencumbered balances and the
shortfall or the drop since last month reflects mostly lag payments-reimbursements--from the
State of Ohio for expenditures for the S.O.M. Center Road Project. When you take those into
account, we are probably even with last month, maybe a little bit ahead. We will have an
Executive Session to discuss several matters involving real estate and personnel matters.
William Thomas (Parks & Recreation)
Mr. Thomas reported that registration continues for all youth and adult spring and summer
programs. We are very busy and registration is going well. As a result of loss of Wiley 2 ball
diamond, Highland Heights has been extremely helpful in allowing us to use their fields as well
the support from St. Francis school.
Mayor Rinker asked who maintains their fields.
Mr. Thomas said Highland Heights does; we will need to line them.
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS
Activities Committee- Mrs. Roman said'the committee is planning for the upcoming Pancake
Breakfast on May 9th. She has the volunteer list in case anyone wants to sign up. There will be a
little bit of a different arrangement on June 12-instead of having Pizzazz and the stage at
Heinen's, it will be over at the Methodist Church parking lot. We will still have 3 bands and
Elvis.
Architectural Review Board - Mr. Marrelli said they met Apri122. A front porch replacement
was approved for a Thornapple Drive residence and rear addition was tabled for further
information on Derby Drive.
Board of Appeals - Mr. Marrelli said there was no meeting this month.
Cemeterv - Mr. Saponaro said there was no report.
Citizen's Advisorv Board - Mr. Saponaro said there is a meeting tomorrow.
Commission on Asing - Mrs. Mills read the report from Eunice Kalina, Human Services
Director. (A copy is attached to the agenda.)
Drainage & Infrastructure/Stormwater Mszt. - Mrs. Cinco said Drainage & Infrastructure met
last Wednesday; we were updated by Tom Cappello about all the safety and stormwater things
we need to do before the Apri17, 2005 deadline. I think everyone received the minutes. Just a
few of those things were welcome wagon programs and homeowners associations to distribute
