Regular Council Minutes
4-26-04
Page 6
brochures. We will put some in the Voice of the Village. We have 9 projects that we are
considering. Some of them have been in process. Doug is following up on those. Our next
meeting will be Wednesday, May 26.
Safetv and Service - Mrs. Cinco said the committee inet April 19. We discussed Senior
Transportation. At one of the upcoming Caucuses we will have a presentation.
Mr. Saponaro said Marionette Richardson and Paul Alsenas (they've put together a powerpoint)
they are with the Cuyahoga County Planning Commission. They are coordinating with TC3 so
there should not be an issue of being put into or allowed to join a group or not. TC3 has already
come forth and said in the interim of this huge transportation program that the County has, TC3
will act as the liaison in meantime which is great. So they will probably coine to June Caucus to
discuss it with everyone.
Mrs. Cinco said we also discussed senior snow removal. We have decided not to extend the
contracts for a second year but to go out for bid again. More companies have been inquiring
about the program so hopefully we can get some lower bids. We authorized bids to sell cars and
discussed a proposed ordinance prohibiting the use of infrared transmitters for safety and traffic
flow reasons and the purchase of a copy machine. We discussed road programs and a concrete
saw. There was a lengthy discussion on the ballfields with the Recreation Department; that is
also on the agenda. Those are to be completed in 2005. They will be started this November. Mr.
Saponaro said that members of the Cub Scouts will be cleaning up Yours Truly area on Saturday
for an hour or so.
Mr. Saponaro said yes, they did. Tommy [Marrie] was there with George Hollovary and the Cub
Scout group at the Yours Truly/CVS Plaza.
Mr. Marrie said there were about 5 young men plus the moms and George. They worked for
about an hour to hour and half and filled up about 6-7large garbage bags. They must've picked
up cigarette butts. They really got a lot out of the eastern part by the mailboxes where the wind
blows. The kids did a really great job.
Mr. Saponaro said this is something they want to do on a continuing basis. The Cub Scouts and
Boy Scouts are looking for continuing service hours. The clean up is not done. There are other
parts in the Village we need to concentrate on. We will also contact Mayfield High School
because they also have community hours they need to fulfill. We can't utilize the Cub Scouts by
the freeway and certain areas.
Finance Committee - Mrs. Mills said the committee met this evening and recommended the
following for approval: $4,500 to IKON Office Solutions for a Canon Image Runner copier for
the Fire Department plus a$160 service contract for 8 months; Super Purchase Orders: to Fire
Safety Services for the purchase of replacement turnout gear; $3,598 to Medtronic for technical
support on Lifepaks-half of this money will come from Gates Mills; $10,000 [Alpha Office] for
miscellaneous office supplies; $12,000 to Ballash Press for summer, fall and winter issues of the
should be Voice of the Village; $5,000 for the purchase of
chlorine for Parkview Pool from Ohio Pools; $7,000 to Ballash Press for the fall and winter 2004
issues of the (should be Parks & Recreation Brochure); $3,500 to Zep
Manufacturing for cleaning supplies for Fire Department; $4,480.33 for a road saw from Cement
