Regular Council Minutes <br />4-26-04 <br />Page 7 <br />Saws of Mentor for the Service Department; we would like authorization to go out to bids for the <br />2004 road program which would include Kenwood, Oakwood, Thornapple, Walnut, <br />Sandalwood, Butternut, Timberline, Creekwood and Deepwood; $7,865 to Suglia Trenching <br />Company for repair of the septic tank at 6565 Highland Road; $555.00 for fencing installation at <br />6072-6112? Wilson Mills Road for fencing at the High School; Super Purchase Orders: $3,000 <br />to Bremec Nursery, not to exceed $15,000 to Home Depot for the Service Department; not to <br />exceed $4,000 to Highland Auto Parts; not to exceed $6,000 to Arrow Builders for plumbing <br />supplies (also for Service Department); not to exceed $3,000 to Marshall equipment (for lawn <br />equipment); not to exceed $5,000 to Dawn Chemical; not to exceed $5,000 to Unique Paving for <br />roadwork supplies; not to exceed $3,000 to Sears for supplies for the Service Department; not to <br />exceed $10,000 to Kurtz for lawn supplies. The committee approved $5,000 (but we will be <br />voting on it in Council); not to exceed $10,000 to Chagrin Valley Nurseries for lawn care <br />supplies (trees, bushes & shrubs); not to exceed $7,000 to Kenmore for hot asphalt; a change <br />from $6,743.88 to $349.35. We recommended for approval authorizing the Mayor to sign letters <br />to support the 2 separate Issue One applications of the Metroparks and Gates Mills Land <br />Conservancy. We also authorized to go out to bid for 7 vehicles that need to be sold in the <br />Village, recommended for approval Ordinance 2004-19, an agreement with Anthem Blue Cross <br />& Blue Shield for employee health benefits; Ordinance 2004-20, a contract with Nerone & Sons <br />for the Parkview Ballfields project. We recommend Ordinance 2004-12 remain on 2"d reading, <br />that is an agreement ratifying the collective bargaining between the International Association of <br />Firefighters in Mayfield Village; we recommend Resolution 2004-08 be held on second reading; <br />and Resolution 2004-12-we recommended that for approval. <br />Council President Buckholtz noted that with Super Purchase Orders we will be able to shorten <br />future agendas. <br />Hillcrest Council of Councils - Mr. Saponaro said there was no report. <br />Historical Societv - Mrs. Mills said the brick walk has been fixed with the help of the Service <br />Deparhnent. The 2004 raffle quilt is ready for binding. Quilt tickets and newsletters will be sent <br />next month. Quilt [raffle] tickets will be $2 apiece or 3/$5. The Quilt Show is scheduled for <br />October 15, 16, and 17 in the Community Room. Our garden is in bloom and lovely despite the <br />monster movers and hole diggers on S.O.M. Three representatives attended area and Ohio <br />regional meetings last week to discuss mutual problems and possible solutions. Today was work <br />day at Mayfield Union Cemetery and the Historical House; 18 students were there and they <br />planted trees to replace the ones that were taken out. Arbor Day is Apri130 in the Community <br />Room at 10 a.m. Hope you will all come. <br />M.A.R.C. - Mr. Saponaro said a regular meeting was held April lst. Besides discussion about <br />enrollment for the various activities, Mr. Weinberg is thinking of doing various other activities <br />including the Chagrin Valley roller-rinlc, etc. so they try to keep programs timely and cui7ent for <br />the residents. The Wildcat Football League was discussed-whether they fall under purview of <br />MARC. The next meeting is May 13 at 7 p.m. at the Center School Teacher's Lounge. <br />Ordinance Review Committee - Mr. Marquardt said they met Apri120 and discussed 2 <br />proposed ordinance changes: one on height limitations and one on signs. They recommended no <br />action at this time on those two.
