Regular Council Minutes
5-17-04
Page 2
There were no comments.
Council President Buckholtz continued, I actually--for the benefit of anyone who is wondering
what is going on, Donna was not at that meeting. Someone else [Debbie] was going to fill in and
took ill at the last minute so we did not have anyone to take minutes. I took some notes; Phil
took some notes but was busy talking about the budget which I can relate to. There are factors
that I think need to be on the record from that meeting. Perhaps, Mr. Diemert, what would be
appropriate in terms of either reconstructing that meeting-or what do you recommend?
Mr. Diemert said the Chair had appointed Mr. Brett so he is really the final say. But as I
indicated in my letter, the body as a whole can override and amend the minutes to reflect what
they want; so as Chair you can have any member submit what they believe should be included
and assemble them accordingly and let Phil look at them and either modify them for what he
thinks is right or not, and resubmit them for everyone to approve. But the whole body as a
majority would have to approve whatever that final version is.
Council President Buckholtz said okay, well then, so would this be appropriate then tonight if we
would vote to table the minutes.
Mr. Diemert replied sure; you don't even need a vote.

Council President Buckholtz said just table the ininutes pending any Council member submit
what their recollection is or their questions or comments regarding the budget were but submit
those to the body as a whole-particularly the Finance Director; allow him to respond to those
comments and, I think that would constitute a fair and accurate discussion of what happened that
evening. Is that to everyone's liking?
Someone said sure; and there were no further coirunents or objections.
Council President Buckholtz said okay. Then consider the minutes from March 22 tabled.
Minutes Not Approved; Tabled
Regular Council Meeting - Apri126 2004
Mr. Marquardt, seconded by Mrs. Mills, made a motion to approve the minutes.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Minutes Approved
COMMENTS FROM MAYOR RINKER
¦ Oath of Office for Fire Lt. Kenneth Shrefler
Mayor Rinker said we recently had a test administered for Fire Lieutenant. We have a very elite
group of fireinen all the way around quite frankly so it is never easy to make a selection. And
test scores were close but I think everyone would agree that this is the decision in many ways
