Regular Council Minutes
5-17-04
Page 3
that is easy because no matter what decision I make I feel comfortable that the selection will be a
good one. I am especially happy to announce that Ken Shrefler is our new Lieutenant and he is
going to be sworn in tonight. Ken started out--he has a lot of seniority-I didn't realize-1975 is
when he began in the Service Department working for Gus Amendola. So everything is at least
one or two degrees of Gus Amendola still in Mayfield Village. But, Ken strived to do more and
joined our Fire Deparhnent and I think without exception has proved himself to be very worthy.
He is indispensable in many ways. Chief Mohr speaks well of him. We all think highly of him
and so without any further ado, I would like to have him come down and be sworn in.
Mayor Rinker administered the oath of office to Kenneth Shrefler as Fire Lieutenant.
¦ Oath of Office - Dave Nadeau - Tax Review Committee
Mayor Rinker administered the oath of office to David Nadeau as a member of the Tax Review
Committee.
Council President Buckholtz said Council will recess at this time [for refreshments] and invited
everyone to stay.
Council President Buckholtz said we will reconvene the meeting.
COMMENTS FROM COUNCIL PRESIDENT BUCKHOLTZ
There were no comments.
DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS:
Service - Mr. Metzung said I hope everyone enjoyed the remodeled Service Department for the
Pancake Breakfast. It took several weeks to repaint the walls and remodel the kitchen. I think
everyone saw what a wonderful improvement it made. We are in the midst of our leaf mulch
deliveries. We are no longer accepting anymore calls on leaf mulch; we are trying to save some
for our own use. We have received our rubbish toters for the much-anticipated pilot program on
the Kenwood/Oakwood area. We hope it will be off the ground for the month of June.
Facilities/Pronertv ManaEer Council President Buckholtz said I would like to welcome Lloyd
Chapman to the table--as Facilities/Property Manager. Nice to see you here.
Engineer - Mr. Hovancsek said on May 28, the Village will be receiving bids for the pavement
repair and some resurfacing. We will see how the bids come in.
Law Department - Mr. Diemert said Council might know-we didn't have a chance to talk at
Caucus-but the Lazzaro property that we've been pursuing for soine time, Mr. Chapman was
able to catch them finally in a moment of desperation and they've agreed to sell it at less than the
appraised value so I would recommend if we could pass that this evening rather than many
readings so that we can move it quickly.
Council President Buckholtz said thank you for the recommendation.
