Regular Council Minutes
5-17-04
Page 4
Finance- Mr. Brett said I passed out a report on year-to-date funds, year-to-date today taxes
which now stand at 4.4 million-about 25% above last year's level. And a month ago-last
year's fund report-and on the unexpended balances we're about $9,000 up overall from last
month and up about 1.2 million since the beginning of the year. So if anybody has any questions
on those, please feel free to ask me.
Council President Buckholtz said if anyone has questions, we can come back to that or-on your
own time.
Police - Chief Dearden said we are very satisfied with the results of the bids that we received for
our used vehicles. Bids were opened on Friday and we'd like to get them approved for sale
tonight so we can get them out of here before Cruise Night.
Parks & Recreation - Mr. Thomas said yesterday we had our 4`h annual track meet. We had
120 students participating. This year we involved all elementary students and the gyrn teacher.
It was extremely successful. The teachers promoted it and worked up teams for open events and
relays to compete against the other elementary schools in the district. We are offering coed adult
kickball and we may have anywhere from 9-12 teams for the first year. Today we started pool
registration for our Village residents. Beginning Wednesday, May 26, school district registration
begins. It was successful. They promoted it and worked up teams and opened events for the
kids. We are offering co-ed kickball and we may have anywhere from 9-12 teams. Today we
started pool registration for our village residents until May 26 and then we start registration for
our school district residents.
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Activities Committee - Mrs. Roman said the Committee has not met since the last Council
meeting. We are pleased to say the Pancake Breakfast went pretty well; we had over 700 people
attend and had many great volunteers and the pancakes were good. We are looking forward to
`SOs Night [June 12] and the 4th of July Celebration.
Architectural Review Board - Mr. Marrelli said the Architectural Review Board met and had
two items on the agenda. Both were for Progressive buildings. One was a wall sign sign which
was approved and the other was a snow screen across top of garage, approved.
Board of Anpeals - Mr. Marrelli said there was no meeting; no matters.
Cemeterv - Mr. Saponaro said no report.
Citizen's Advisor. Board - Mr. Saponaro said Citizen's Advisory Committee inet Apri127. Our
next meeting is May 24 in the back room of this Community Center. We discussed many issues.
Mr. Marrelli and myself were there. There were quite a number of different people there from
the committee. They had various questions regarding the snowplow service for seniors and the
new garbage and recycling contractors that we have. It was a very well attended meeting and I
think it will do well to help the Village in various issues that coine up in tenns of the litter or
things that we've discussed before. So, it was very positive; a good meeting.
