Regular Council Minutes 5-17-04
Page 23
Council President Buckholtz asked, any other questions?
There were no comments.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion. Carried
Resolution Adopted
ANY OTHER MATTER THAT MAY COME BEFORE COUNCIL
Mr. Marquardt addressed Mr. Metzung and said, the President of the Aintree North
Homeowners' Association, would like to know if there will be water and power that is going to
provided to the entryways of Aintree North as he has requested for a long time. '
Mr. Metzung said Mr. Pietrafese has requested electricity for quite some time and I believe that
is going to happen. Water; we never made any arrangements to have water provided.
Mr. Marquardt said we have water that is going down to sprinkle the roadway.
Mr. Metzung said I am not saying it couldn't happen. I am just saying it was not something that
was ever requested until this very moment. They have always asked for electricity for the brick
wall.
Mrs. Mills said Kenwood requested that a long time ago, in where I live. And we had gas lamps
and we were told absolutely not; if we wanted them, we paid out of our own pocket. Therefore,
we have no more gas lamps at our entranceways. So I think if you are going to start a program
like that, then every homeowner association, mine especially, is going to want that too.
Mr. Marquardt said I think the opportunity is there-while we've got the place torn up anyhow--
Mrs. Mills asked, but who is going to pay the expense of that.
Mayor Rinker said wait a sec[ond.] Do you have any idea of the cost of it? Because we can
check it out. The fact that we haven't done it doesn't mean that we can't do it; and if it's a
reasonable cost and the opportunity is there, I think we ought to look into it.
Council President Buckholtz said I was going to suggest that--we had a pretty extensive Worton
Park homeowners meeting-and I wasn't going to do it at this meeting, I was saving it for aCaucus but I was thinking we are finally getting to the place where we have homeowners'
associations in just about every neighborhood of the Village. And, kind of, I was using the web
as the point of the first coordination of that but everyone is talking about the same items like
gateways to their neighborhoods, beautification projects, bridges we've talked about-doing
similar bridging in places where that is appropriate. So, just to hear this interchange, it presents
itself as not a problem but an opportunity, I mean if we are going to light gateways to each
neighborhood, then we definitely should look at this. And if Aintree North is torn up, you know,
would be the first place to look at. Let's get some numbers. I would be all in favor of that.
Again, we can make this an agenda item for the Caucus in terms of everybody go to their
