Regular Council Minutes
7-19-04
Page 2
Mayor Rinker said I can't think'of a much better segue than this. Dr. Price; I ask you to stick
around. In speaking of the enrichment of our community and what the schools providewe are
only too happy to support. He invited Anthony Casey,_ Karen Tritt, Fire Lt. Mike Girbino and
firefighters Ken Richards and Gino Carcioppolo to come forward.
Mayor Rinker said Anthony did something very special for his mother [saving her from choking.].
He read the Proclamation (see attached) and congratulated Anthony. Mayor Rinker then presented
Anthony with an Outstanding Junior Citizen plaque for acting very grownup in a tough situation.
Everyone applauded.
Mayor Rinker said we've got to recognize Karen Tritt because she has been volunteering over the
years. Our Fire Department always is getting the word out. We are very, very conscious of safety
and trying to make sure that our citizens understand the importance of basic training. If a fourth
grader can be that effective, then so can we all. Mayfield Village is going to endow the BAT
Program for whatever we think we canto facilitate it-the $500 amount should help provide
educational materials. We hope that in the name of Anthony Casey it will save another life.
CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES: Regular Council Meeting -June 28, 2004- as corrected
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mrs. Cinco, made a motion to approve the minutes as corrected.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion Carried
Minutes Approved
COMMENTS FROM COUNCIL, PRESIDENT BUCKHOLTZ
Council President Buckholtz said I have no comments.
DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS:
Service - Mr. Metzung said as Mayor Rinker stated earlier, they will begin placing concrete on
S.O.M. Center Road on Wednesday. Wednesday night, Wilson Mills will be closed also as they
will be replacing asphalt going down the hill. The wi fi at Parkview Pool is now up and running.
Apparently there is a problem with the connection from Adelphia that was causing intermittent
blackouts. That seems to betaken care of. Speaking of new building known as the Church, we
have begun our renovations over there, with removal of the carpeting and removing some walls
in the main office area; we will get those [done] as we can, time permitting.
Building - Mr. Marrelli said we had some electrical work done as well in the former Church
building. We have a couple of new businesses in town: The Learning RX studio opened up at
6449 Wilson Mills; at 761 Beta Drive, we issued an occupancy permit to a company called
General Tobacco for storing cartons of cigarettes.

~~
~I
Mr. Saponaro said the Learning RX works in conjunction with Sylvan Learning Center; not in
competition;
