~ MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF COUNCIL <br />Mayfield Village <br />December 6, 2004 <br />The Council of Mayfield Village met in regular session on Monday, December 6, 2004 <br />at 8:22 p.m. in the Mayfield Village Senior Center/Community Room. Council President Bill <br />Buckholtz presided. <br />ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Buckholtz, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Marquardt, Mr. Marrie, <br />Mrs. Mills, Dr. Parker and Ivlr. Saponaro <br />Absent: Mr. Chapman <br />Also Present: Mayor Rinker, Mr. Brett, Ms. Calta, Mr. Cappello, Chief Dearden, <br />Mr. Marrelli, Mr. Metzung, Chief Mohr, Mr. 'Thomas and <br />Mrs. Roman <br />The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given. <br />Council President Buckholtz requested a motion to amend the agenda to include the Southern <br />Aluminum for purchase of tables and the C.R.I.S. <br />Dr. Parker, seconded by Mrs. Mills, made a motion to amend the agenda to include Southern Aluminum <br />and the C.R.I.S. <br />Roll Call: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None Motion Carried <br />Agenda Amended <br />OPEN PORTION <br />5-minute limit imposed by Chair. Those who wish to speak must first state their name and address. <br />Mr. Eric Jochum, 7107 Wilson ldiills Road, said there is a new organization operating in <br />Mayfield Village and all of the Hillcrest communities. Some of you maybe aware of it; it is <br />called the Hillcrest 100. I know Chief Mohr and Chief Dearden are aware of it. It is anon-profit <br />organization. It is recognized by the IRS as a charity but it is for the sole purpose of coming to <br />the aid of our first responders: police and fire and their families in event of extreme financial <br />crisis or emergency through illness or accident. I have some pamphlets I'd like to pass-out. This <br />organization was formed this past year. It is the newest of the 118 organizations throughout the <br />country. It joins organizations that were formed in Shaker and Beachwood in the 1960's and <br />more recently in Solon and University Heights. The Hillcrest 100 and the goals of the <br />organization are enthusiastically endorsed by the FOP and the Blue Coats. We don't duplicate <br />what they do but we like to think that we complement it. It is supported strictly by membership <br />j fees. The way it works is if there is a fire or policeman-a first responder that is in need of <br />financial assistance due to maybe a medical problem in their family, they are able to come to the <br />committee and present an application and then it would be considered. That would be in the form <br />of an outright grant or an interest-free loan. I think it is a very worthy organization; something <br />
