Regular Council Meeting Minutes 7-20-09 Page 6 back to an indoor pool at the high school because we closed the pool at Parkview. So, the only thing we did not have was sun and our concession stand. Sports-N-More is probably the best customer of our concession stand. We are finalizing the Fall Parks and Recreation brochure tonight. We will hand it to the printer tomorrow. Mr. Saponaro stated he received a couple of phone calls regarding the story that was on the national news regarding Abby's Law, the little girl who eventually died as the result of the pool drain, the suctions, and everything. Mr. Saponaro told them he would come and ask at Council, but he is sure we are in full compliance and we have all of the safety measures. Mr. Thomas replied that the two main drains at Parkview Pool is not suctioned. Where our suction drains were were on the side of fhe pool. Actually on the wall, so even though the main drains weren't suctioned, we still had to be in compliance. Mr. Saponaro asked, that is the Bill you were talking about earlier? Mr. Thomas said, that is the Bill that Diane Calta kept asking, is it done yet, is it done yet? We finished that in late May or early June thanks to the Service Department and Astro Pools who built the pool in 1999. We are in total compliance. ARCHITECT - Ron DiNardo There was no report. HUMAN SERVICES - Eunice Kalina Mrs. Kalina reported that they had a trip on July 10?' to Fremont to the Ruttierford B. Hayes Presidential Center and Home which was absolutely lovely. Wonderful facility for any of you who have never been there. It is well worth going to. Our next big trip is to Kent to the museum there, lunch at Schwebel's and then a tour of Schwebel's Bakery. In October, we are going to Tara in Pennsylvania for a tour and lunch and then we will go to Grove City. Our flu shots are scheduled for October 26`h. Sign ups will be in early October. We aze doing the same thing, pre-registration. It goes much more smoothly. We had an AARP Safe Driving Class at the end of June. There were 31 people. We are only supposed to have a maximum of 30, but somehow we managed to get 31 in there. We have scheduled another one for the end of October. It will be in this room because they do it in a four and a half hour format. We don't have that timeslot in the Community Room. This room was available, so we will have it over here. . With regard to the Senior Snow Removal Program, we hope to get a letter out in August. Our department is handling it this year. We would like sign-ups earlier than in previous years. Our Senior.Speaker Series continues. We scheduled 8 mental fitness sessions. People can either come to one or a118 or whatever they want to. All are invited.
