Regular c:ouncil Meeting Minutes <br />7-20-09 <br />Page 7 <br />On August 19`h, we are having Kelly Sullivan from CVS. She is a pharmacist. She is going to <br />talk about drug safety. <br />STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS: <br />Activities Committee - Mrs. Mills reported that Activities met on June 24th. They recapped <br />Cruise Night which Mrs. Mills thought went very well because of the Service Department, Police <br />and Fire. The Fourth of July Celebration on July 5th was a beautiful night. The fireworks were <br />just beautiful this year. You had a lot of comments on that. Summer concerts are going very <br />well. We do need some volunteers for July 30'', August 20'' and 27t' to pop popcorn. It's a lot of <br />fun. Teen Event will be on August 8h at 7:30 at Parkview Pool for 6-8"' graders. They are still <br />talking about getting a new popcorn machine, but everyone we look at is the same thing we have <br />right now, so why buy a new one? If you aze careful when you are popping popcorn, you don't <br />have a problem. Anyone who would like to help pop popcorn, Mrs. Mills has the paper right <br />here. Put your name on it. It's easy to sign. <br />Architectural Review Board - Mr. Marrelli reported that Architectural Review Board met in <br />July. We reviewed a landscaping plan to screen an RV at the end of Seneca Drive. T'hat was <br />tabled for more information. <br />Beautification Committee- Mr. Saponaro reported that we had a meeting on June 29th . The <br />minutes aze being finalized by Susan Jerome and will be sent out in everyone's packets. Our <br />next meeting will be on September 28t'. <br />Board of Appeals - There was no meeting. There is no report. <br />Cemeterv - Mrs. Mills reported that she met with the representatives, Ed Hargate from Highland <br />Heights and Diane Snyder of Mayfield Heights at the Cemetery last Friday. Mrs. Mills gave <br />them the.bids that she had for tree removal, etc. They chose Highpointe to do the work because <br />it was the lowest bid. Highpointe has done work there before, so hopefully everything will go <br />fine. We also discussed some further work in the Cemetery which Mrs. Mills is going to meet <br />with Mr. Metzung tomonow to go over with him. <br />Citizen's Advisorv Board - Mr. Marrie reported that the Board met on the 10' of this month. <br />Chief Dearden was our guest speaker and did an outstanding job of explaining the new police <br />station and answering many of the questions, which there were many from the group, about the <br />design, why the location, and also the design-build format and the process that the committee has <br />gone through to get it down to the final three. They were invited to come to the July 23`d meeting <br />to see the presentation un the three. He also covered the traff'ic situation that we have already <br />kicked azound and what we aze faced with and some of the things they have done with the traffic <br />lights to eliminate some of the problems. A lot of people were very pleased that some of the <br />lines were moving a lot faster than they were. No one loves the traff'ic the way it is, but we have <br />to live with it and the department has done something to eliminate some of it. Chief Dearden also <br />did a run through and identified 15 commercial vehicles in driveways. Letters were sent to these
