Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
January 30, 2006
Page 7

COM1VkIENTS FROM COUNCIL PRESIDENT BILL BUCKHOLTZ
Council President Buckholtz stated that he has been on Council for about a dozen years. Most
of the faces he has known for most of that time. He would like to thank the Mayor for his strength and
leadership and a11 of the people that he has learned from and who will continue to learn from each
other to malce this all happen.
DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS:
SERVICE - Douglas Metzunit
Mr. Metzung reported that he has met with the resident at the corner of Wildwood and
S.O.M. Center Road. There are some sight line issues there. Chief Dearden and Mr. Metzung
discussed the concerns with the resident. Progress was made in working with the homeowner to
show her what the problem is. Mr. Cappello will perform survey work there so that we can get
the sight lines laid out. We will then discuss the matter with the law department to research
further action, if necessary. This will require moving a couple of trees and fencing.
Mr. Metzung also indicated that bids are going out for fencing for the homes on
Bramblewood that back up to S.O.M. Center Road, at the Historical Center and at Mt. Sinai
Cemetery. They will be opened on February 16tn
Mr. Metzung met with Ron DiNardo, our local architect and they went through the Zatko
property. They assessed current conditions of the building; what is needed today to make sure
that it stays in good physical condition and to look at it for what opportunities that can be used
for that property in the future. Mr. DiNaxdo seemed very excited about the opportunities to use
that property.
Finally; Wilson Mills Road has been opened. The Cuyahoga County Engineers have
requested that 1Vlayfield Village help maintain that road this winter. We have agreed to do that.
Mr. Metzung asks anyone using that road in good weather or bad to be very careful. The
roadway narrows down in an area. It is very dangerous when the snow comes and there is a
plow going down the road. It will be very narrow. 11 foot plows are used and that does not
leave a lot of space for a car and snowplow. Mr. Metzung warned everyone to be very careful if
you see a snowplow.
Mayor Rinker asked Mr. Metzung how the wall being put in that axea will be treated. Mr.
Metzung indicated that he made contact with the County to request that they do some type of
liner on it. Mr. Cappello called the County as well to tag-team.
