Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
January 30, 2006 Page 8
BUILDING - John Marrelli
Mr. Marrelli reported that there is a company called the Ink Stop that moved in to 760
Beta Drive. They do wholesale printer ink cartridges. This is their northeastern United States
main headquarters. They hope to grow into another 20,000 square feet in the next few years.
National Testing Laboratories, who was renting space at Jefferson Park, purchased and
rehabilitated 6571 Wilson Mills Road which is where the little barbershop is. They completed
that Friday and their occupancy permit was issued today. They do testing of water quality for the
EPA for companies. They have 20,000 square feet and 20 employees. That is another good one
for us.
ENGINEERING - Tom Cappello
Mr. Cappello reported that we are in the process of serving Highland Road, Metropark
and Zorn for the sewer improvement projects. We have also completed surveying on
Meadowwood, Eastgate, Thornapple, Ravine and Robley.
PROPERTY MANAGER - Llovd Chapman
Mr. Chapman reported that we are working with a homeowner who approached us about
the possibility of a purchase option in a strategically located area in Mayfield Village. Mr.
Chapman hopes to have that contract completed shortly for their review.
As the Mayor pointed out earlier, we are working with City Architecture regarding
Deacon's, Yours Truly and Heinen's regarding Village Town Center. Recently we were
working with one other local business who is considering moving in to the Village.
LEGAL DEPARTMENT - Joe Diemert
Mr. Diemert sent out the Wi-Fi liability opinion a week or so ago. He will keep us
abreast of further developments.
With regard to Costanzo, trial is scheduled for February 27th, so that should be resolved
by the end of the month.
FIRE - Chief Mohr
Chief Mohr reported that the new fire truck will be here around May 18th. Confirmation
will go on-line towards the middle of March.
The file server project is completed. All buildings are connected. The computers of the
community are connected through fiber optics which is exceeding our expectations on what it is
able to do.
