Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Apri124, 2006
Page 4
Mayor Rinker added that Specialized has been phenomenal. There have been a number of
meetings and instances where people were concerned about the paving progress. This guy could
not do enough. He offered to come in and do extra striping, to stage his crew, to do all kinds of
things. He has gone out of his way to be accommodating and it has been refreshing. We really
appreciate it.
BUILDING - John Marrelli
As a follow up, Mr. Marrelli reported that a city-wide sweep took place whereupon 15
residents with commercial vehicles, residential vehicles, trailers, etc. were reported as violators
and warning tickets were issued. Some discussions took place and 12 of the 15 citations were
taken care of voluntarily. There is one recreational vehicle for sale on Ridgebury.
Mr. Marrelli is putting together a short blurb for the Voice of the Village so that he can
remind people of the rules and regulations.
ENGINEERING - Tom Cappello
Mr. Cappello reported that the construction on Wilson Mills Road is almost finished. It
looks pretty good. They are on schedule. They are planning on reopening the road for June 15tn,
in time for the potential closing of River Road.
To bring you up to date on the River Road bridge rehab, Mr. Cappello indicated that
ODOT has bid the project. It is a state project. Bids were opened. There was only one bidder out
of Canton and it was 30% over the engineer's estimate. Right now, ODOT has two options (1)
to award it and continue with the schedule which would be to start work this summer, close
River Road at the bridge for 45 days beginning near the end of June, beginning of July. They
will have that reopened for school; or (2) wait one fiscal year and rebid it in the fall or winter.
Right now they are debating on what action to take. As soon as Mr. Cappello finds out, he will
let Council know.
With regard to the sanitary sewer project for Highland, Metropark and Zorn, Mr.
Cappello reported that we plan on advertising for bid on or before May 25' so that the bids will
be opened and a recommendation made for award for the June 12th Council meeting.
PROPERTY MANAGER - Llovd Chapman
Mr. Chaprnan reported that Ordinance No. 2006-10 will be discussed later. It regards the
purchase option and first right of refusal for the property locatecl at 6826 Meadowwood Drive.
This was talked about several times. The couple who lived there happen to be interested in
planning for potentially selling their home in the next couple years. At the point in time when
they get an offer on their house, we will have the first right of refusal to bring it back to Council
and review the opportunity to figure out whether it is a fair price. It is located by a.n easement
