Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Apri124, 2006
Page 7
Architectuxal Review Board - Mr. Marrelli reported that Architectural Review Board met on
April 13t . There were two proposals acted on. One was a front porch addition on Oakwood
Drive and the second item was an addition which was a whole second story to a house on
Glenview Road. Both of those were approved. The Mayor asked about Whitehaven. Mr.
Metzung reported that it was postponed until this Thursday because there was a family issue with
the caretaker. Whitehaven's new look will be finalized this Thursday.
Beautification Committee - Mr. Saponaro reported that the Beautification Committee met on
April lOt . We have had very good meetings with lively discussion. As a result of the last
meeting, we have determined that May 20t" is the clean up day for the Village. We have sent out
fliers to all residents. Hopefully everyone has received those. We will meet here at the parking
lot at 9:45 a.m. and walk down as a group to the 271 ramps. Service will provide us with all of
the bags and everything we need. We will clean up between 10:00 and 12:00. This is also a day
we will put on the marquee up front that residents are encouraged to clean up around their own
properties. This is a great group, like Citizen's Advisory. These axe citizens that want to be
involved. They want nothing but good things for Mayfield Village. It is fun to be there.
Generally, it is myself, Bill, Patsy and Tommy. Doug is there, Mary Beth and then the actual
group themselves. We also have talked about some other issues. To get everyone up to speed,
Mr. Saponaro showed them the power point presentation from City Architecture put on back in
November to give us a flavor of what we are trying to do and also to determine what we are not
1 there to do. The next meeting will be a joint meeting on May 15th at 7:00 with Citizen's
Advisory.
Board of Appeals - Mr. Marrelli indicated that there was no meeting, so there is no report.
Cemetery - Mrs. Mills indicated that the Garden Club is starting to do some work at the
Cemetery as well as the historical house. Mrs. Mills also thanked the Service Department for
spreading the rocks on the driveway, getting rid of all mudholes.
Citizen's Advisory Board - Mr. Marrie reported that Citizen's Advisory met. Quite a bit of
discussion took place with regard to the Beautificatiori Committee including what they are and
do. Concerns were raised about participation by the Village in Memorial Day ceremonies in
Whitehaven such as Richmond Heights does on Memorial Day down by their City Hall. They
were wondering about participation by the Village. Mayor Rinker indicated that he has been to
every single Memorial Day service since he was Council President in 1991. He would be
honored if Council showed up. Mr. Marrie stated that poor turnout was pointed out and also the
fact that refreshments should be served. Mayor Rinker stated that we need to be sensitive to the
people who initiated this years ago, the disabled vets, they have been doing it and have done it in
conjunction with other organizations. They have often needed the moral support and other
support. Mayor Rinker added that the fact that people in the Village have become sensitive to it
is great. Mary Beth will circulate more information about it this year especially and see what we
can do to solicit whatever we can. He is happy to see that there is that sensitivity.
Mr. Buckholtz asked if this was at Whitehaven. Mayor Rinker indicated it was. We always try to
do it the day before because there are so many other festivities around the other areas. Typically
this event is held on a Sunday at about 1:00 and Mayor Rinker has made it a point to attend.
