Minutes of the Regular Meeting of .Council
June 12, 2006
Page 2
Mr. Buckholtz asked Lynne if she was talking about the truck access road. Lynne said she
would like to use that way. That is the safe one because they are right there. The bicycles go there.
Mr. Buckholtz asked Chief Dearden about the trails.
Chief Dearden indicated that he does not believe they were built to support the weight of
motor vehicles. The Metroparks allowed them that entranceway for emergency vehicles for necessity
purposes to reach the three residents on Upper 40's. As a day to day pathway for motor vehicles, that
pavement is not going to support it. That will probably be their contention. If they a11ow the vehicles
to drive on that, who is going to pay for repairs if the pavement fa11s apart. It is not much more than
two to three inches of asphalt.
Mr. Buckholtz asked if there is any other access road.
Mr. Brett asked Mrs. Peirce if she is talking about the pedestrian path just north of St.
Bartholomew where the stantions have been put in. That is a pedestrian pathway. The road just put
in at the Upper 40's will not support the weight. We can approach Mr. Hartenberg, but their position
will probably be that it will not be allowed. River Road will not be closing after all until next year at
this time. There should not be any situation where Butteimilk Fa11s is closed at the same time that
the bridge on River Road is closed according to schedule.
Mr. Buckholtz indicated that that originally was what we were all looking towards as being a
real nightmare with both bridges being out at the same time. That will not be happening after a11.
Mr. Cappello stated that the project will be bid for 2007 construction, so River Road will not
close until next June/July. Wilson Mills is scheduled to open this Friday the 16th in the afternoon.
Nina asked if it is fair that the straightaway cannot be used to go to S.O.M. The temptation is
there to use it. If it is true that the road is not strong enough for it, can it be taken care of.
Mr. Buckholtz indicated that we will speak to Vern Hartenburgh on your behalf. We will
also ta.lk to the engineers to get an idea of what the road will hold so that it is safe. They may come
back and say it is for emergency use only. We will be glad to speak up on your behalf.
Comments by Marge Eisenberg
Marge Eisenberg resides at 6783 Seneca. It has come to her attention that we have many
rental properties in the Village. We have no ordinances, no legislation controlling these properties.
You should consider looking at other communities that have rental properties and how they handle
them. The house across the street from her is a rental property. Mr. Marrelli has been asked to look
at it many times. She feels badly about it, but she has no choice. The grass is very high. She is sorry,
but there is nothing else she can do.
Mr. Marrelli indicated that she is not the.only one the Building Department gets calls on.
Mr. Saponaro asked how many rental properties we have in the Village. Mr. Brett indicated
that we can look at the census data.
