"Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
June 12, 2006
Page 3
Mr. Buckholtz stated that there is no Ordinance at this time.
Mr. Marrelli indicated that there is a property maintenance code regardless of who owns or
resides in the house. When they get a call from a neighbor they go and inspect the premises and talk
to whoever is there or leave them a note. Our compliance rate is extremely high so it is a matter of
working a little harder on those who ignore it.
Mr. Buckholtz stated that it seems to him that the owner could be in Arizona but the renter is
living there and has no control.
Mr. Saponaro asked about the property Mrs. Eisenberg is referring to. Mr. Marrelli indicated
that the renter's brother owns the home. Mr. Saponaro asked if we have made any leeway. Mr.
Marrelli stated that they cleaned it up last sLUnmer. Mr. Marrie asked if we can perform the work and
then bill them. Mr. Marrelli indicated that we can cut their grass and bill them. Some of the things
we cannot work on, for example if they don't put a lamp in their postlight. They are working on it.
Some people don't live up to the same standards and it is hard to enforce that. The properly does not
look as good as the other houses, not professionally done.
With regard to the footdraggers, Mr. Marrie suggested they, be cited and taken to Court.
Maybe that will get their attention.
. Comments from Beverly Berlin
Beverly Berlin resides at 962 S.O.M. Center Road. She believes it would be prudent if we
had some sort of public transportation for the elderly that live out here to go to medical appointments.
Mayfield Heights seems to have quite a few facilities for transporting people around. Maybe they
could book something ahead of time to take them to their medical appointments.
Mr. Buckholtz indicated that we have been looking at that. Mr. Saponaro asked what
happened to TC-3. Mr. Buckholtz indicated that we had a presentation brought before us. Mr. Brett
indicated that the cost was high.
Referring to Eunice Kalina's survey, Mrs. Mills pointed out that we did not get an actual
need for transportation. There was not that many people that needed it. Mr. Saponaro asked when
this was done. Mrs. Mills responded that Eunice just did a survey. Mr. Saponaro clarified that he
was talking about TC-3. Mr. Buckholtz indicated that they were not ready to go. When we were
approached by a couple of different organizations offering transportation, one was county-wide and
not ready to go at the time. Now they are going. It is an exorbitant cost in terms of how many
people will be using it. We also talked about pat-hiering up with a couple of other communities
around. The way it works is you have to ca11 and make an appointment arranging for a trip. There
was some logistical problems. Council agrees. We would like to see transportation.
Mr. Saponaro suggested that Ms. Berlin talk to Eunice Kalina, our Director of Human
Resources. Mrs. Mills indicated that she already has tallced to Eunice. Mrs. Mills will track it with
Eunice. Mr. Saponaro stated that a survey went out to the residents to see if there was a need
