Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
September 25, 2006
Page 8
think may have some good business acumen and little bit more hands on. The idea would be not
so much necessarily formally meeting in Committee as much as developing a procedure. One of
the suggestions are to develop a form and when something comes in, it could be prepared as a
dossier for distribution amongst the different individuals with the request that they respond back
within a certain period of time, go through and evaluate and compare notes, discuss it and then
take it from there. It could be handled like an interview process.
Mrs. Mills commented that this is interesting. When Beta Drive was first developed, we
had a citizen's committee that went out into the business districts looking for people to occupy
there. Check to see if there is any history on that.
Mayor Rinker added that historically there are a lot of things in place. Regularly, the
Building Department or Mr. Brett will get a call. It took about two weeks to sell out four coaches, which was 320
tickets. One of the suggestions from the Rec Board this year was to offer a time when residents
could register first. Over 100 tickets were sold to the residents. The next day on the 21St, 160
tickets were sold for the school district. It was opened up today for the non-school district
residents. We sold out all four coaches.
Mr. Thomas started working with the schools today on the Wildcat Teen Halloween
event scheduled for October 20th. We are working with two new principals, one at the Middle
School and one at the High School. The cooperation is still there from those individuals.
We are working on the Winter brochure which will be mailed out in early November.
HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT -Mrs. Kalina
Mrs. Kalina passed out the department's report to Council. It is attached to these
Minutes.
The phone line was busy today. It was the first day for people to register for the flu
shots. It was supposed to be 10-2 and it instead went from 9:15 to 4:00. We did register about
