Regular Council Minutes
10/23/06
Page 14
Motion to authorize expenditure in the amount of $9,500.00 to King Excavating Co.
for demolition of the house located at 386 S.O.M. Center Road.
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Mamie, made a motion to authorize expenditure in the
amount of $9,500.00 to King Excavating Co. for demolition of the house located at 386 S.O.M.
Center Road.
Mayor Rinker explained that the house in question is the Ciofani house at the entrance of
Parkview.
Mr. Metzung reported that an inspection of the home was performed and an estimate was
prepared to bring the home up to Mayfield Village Rental Standards. It would cost $40,000.00 to
make the repairs. The bathrooms were horrendous. The house needed a lot of work. There was
a lot of cracking. It was either $40,000.00 to upgrade or $10,000.00 to tear it down. When we
purchased the home it was never meant to be kept as rental property. We always looked to
cleaning that area up and that is what Mr. Metzung is looking to do at this time is clean that up.
Mr. Metzung added that there is also an old brown barn on a piece of property a couple
properties to the south that they will also be taking down. That is under the Mayor's spending
limit. This is an effort to clean up that whole area.
Mayor Rinker reminded everyone that when we looked at acquiring these properties, it
was all a part of consolidating our parkland area. Save one house now, that will be the only
structure. We have a tenant there. Mr. Metzung has had to be caretaker for that house as well.
Mayor Rinker asked if Kitti understands what is going on there as well. Mr. Metzung said he
does not know that he talked to Kitti about it per se, but we have let Kitti know that we are not
kicking her out at any time soon. Mayor Rinker asked that she be advised of the schedule. This
is our long-term plan, to consolidate this acreage as part of our park area.
Council President Buckholtz asked if there was any other discussion. There were no
comments.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Expenditure Authorized
Motion to authorize acceptance of bid from The Davey Tree Expert Company in the
amount of $14,130.00 ($10,350.00 for Aintree Park and $3,780.00 for N. Aintree) for
tree trimming.
Mr. Mamie, seconded by Mrs. Cinco, made a motion to authorize acceptance of bid from
The Davey Tree Expert Company in the amount of $14,130.00 ($10,350.00 for Aintree Park and
$3,780.00 for N.Aintree) for tree trimming.
