Regular Council Meeting <br />12/ 18/06 <br />Page 12 <br />Motion to authorize expenditure in an amount not to exceed $5,000.00 to Simmons <br />Remodeling for demolition work on the ceiling of the former sanctuary at Civic <br />Hall. <br />Mrs. Cinco, seconded by Mrs. Mills, made a motion to authorize expenditure in an amount not to <br />exceed $5,000.00 to Simmons Remodeling for demolition work on the ceiling of the former <br />sanctuary at Civic Hall. <br />Mr. Mamie explained that they need to look at the bones up on the roof to make sure of what our <br />load bearing capacity is to hang fixtures and speakers and what not up there, so we have to pull <br />that out. <br />Mayor Rinker stated that the basic idea is to knock that out if we can so that we can do <br />conventional stage set-up. <br />Roll Call: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None Motion Carried <br />Expenditure Authorized <br />First Reading of Resolution No. 2006-27, entitled "A resolution requesting the Cuyahoga <br />County Treasurer to advance from the proceeds of tax levies for the collection year 2007." <br />Introduced by Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole. <br />Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Mamie, made a motion to suspend Resolution No. 2006-27. <br />ROLL CALL: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None Motion Carried <br />Resolution Suspended <br />Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Mamie, made a motion to adopt Resolution No. 2006-27. <br />ROLL CALL: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None Motion Carried <br />Resolution Adopted <br />Council President Buckholtz asked if there were any comments. <br />Mr. Brett explained that most Resolutions do not take effect until 30 days after the Mayor signs <br />it. By making it an emergency measure, it takes effect immediately upon his signature. This <br />Resolution is so that we do not have to wait for all of the money to be collected. We do not <br />collect our taxes. The County collects our property taxes and the Regional Income Tax Agency <br />collects our municipal income taxes. Every year, we request that the County Treasurer advance <br />the Village the real estate taxes before they are all collected so that we get it faster. It is a <br />housekeeping measure. <br />
