Regular Council Meeting
1-29-07
Pai;e 11
On a final note, I have been very privileged to serve as Mayor. As you all know Mayfield
Village a number of years ago rescinded term limits and I can tell you tonight it is my intention to
run for another term. I hope that I have earned the respect of all of you. I look to our future as
one that is very very challenging but one that is very very doable. I think we all share that "can-
do" spirit.
Thank you very much.
CfJM1VVEN'TS FROM COUNCIL PRESIDENT BUCKHOLTZ
Mr. Buckholtz stated that he has been on Council for 12 years. He owes it to everyone who
has come out tonight, taking their time out to be here. Mostly tonight, to his fellow Council members.
Council did something they never did before. T'hey met this year informally to discuss the way they
communicate with each other and the way they communicate with the Mayor and administration.
Individually and as a group they went over tivngs like the Village Charter and Ordinances. We can go
lirie by line. The concept of how we use the budget and how we work together in a very responsible,
open and communicative way was discussed. We put together a list of items.
Tom Marrie, President Pro Tem and myself inet with the Mayor. It was a very wonderful and
open meeting. We discussed ideas about how this year will be even better. We discussed how we can
set up ways of communicating and doing things.
During the holiday get together, Mr. Buckholtz, a promoter of the Mayor giving speeches and
ideas, pointed out to Council a11 of the communities that do not have that kind of leadership or ball of
energy. It is better to sometimes be explaining our position since we have a Mayor/Chief Executive
Officer who is burning the midnight oil and coming up with a11 these plans and ideas, than not to have
one at all.
Mr. Buckholtz stated that on behalf of himself, he would like to thank a11 Departrnent Heads,
staff, volunteers, our Mayor and his fellow Council for a11 of these things that have been done. If you
read the Charter, he can't do anything without us appropriating and approving the money. It has been
agreat effort. Mr. Buckholtz thanked everyone.
- Mr. Buckholtz advised that there would be a little break so that everyone could enjoy the
refreshments. Anyone wishing to sta.y for the remainder of the meeting, that's fine.
The break began at 8:45 p.m.
The meeting reconvened at 9:03 p.m.
