Regular Council Meeting <br />3-26-07 <br />Page 2 <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS: <br />SERVICE - Douglas Metzung <br />Mr. Metzung apologized for the late addition on the agenda of the ball diamond conditioner. This <br />is placed on the ballfields to a11ow play to continue even during bad weather. The other item is <br />that you will notice that the trees on S.O.M. Center Road are being removed as we speak. He <br />tagged over 100 trees today so within the next couple of weeks or so, they will begin to fill that <br />area in. <br />BUILDING - John Marrelli <br />Mr. Marrelli does not have a Building Department report, but he would like to briefly go over the <br />technology in front of us tonight. Anyone with a microphone near them, you need to make sure <br />the blue light is on. Press the button. When it is your turn to talk, pull it up close to you. <br />ENGINEERING - Tom Capnello <br />Reporting on the sanitary sewer project on Highland, Mr. Cappello stated that the main line is <br />done. They are 1/3 of the way completed down Highland. <br />LEGAL DEPARTMENT - Tom Hanculak <br />There was nothing to report. <br />FIRE - Chief Mohr <br />There was nothing to report. <br />FINANCE - Phillip Brett <br />Mr. Brett apologized for the late addition of Ordinance 2007-12 on the agenda. He was looking <br />last night on the internet for the scheduling for Community Development Block Grants. He was <br />at the County site and noticed a County Innovation Zone Program which is a pilot program that <br />stems out of the 2006 Cuyahoga County Strategic Plan. The applications were already finalized <br />March lst. He came across this last night. This is a program that the County is doing which is <br />essentially what Mayfield Village has been doing for the last two years along Beta Drive. They <br />axe looking for sites where they want to promote and facilitate the development of knowledge- <br />based industries and to provide the situs for those industries in those particular spots. It is a great <br />overlay for what we are doing with the Beta Strategy Group. The information sheet with a11 of <br />the details was provided to everyone this evening. If it is approved by Council this evening, Mr. <br />Brett will sit down with Ted Theofrastus tomorrow, filling in some of the blanks on the <br />application. Mr. Brett hopes to get it in by Friday at Noon, which is the deadline.
