Regular Council Meeting
3-26-07
Page 2
DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS:
SERVICE - Douglas Metzung
Mr. Metzung apologized for the late addition on the agenda of the ball diamond conditioner. This
is placed on the ballfields to a11ow play to continue even during bad weather. The other item is
that you will notice that the trees on S.O.M. Center Road are being removed as we speak. He
tagged over 100 trees today so within the next couple of weeks or so, they will begin to fill that
area in.
BUILDING - John Marrelli
Mr. Marrelli does not have a Building Department report, but he would like to briefly go over the
technology in front of us tonight. Anyone with a microphone near them, you need to make sure
the blue light is on. Press the button. When it is your turn to talk, pull it up close to you.
ENGINEERING - Tom Capnello
Reporting on the sanitary sewer project on Highland, Mr. Cappello stated that the main line is
done. They are 1/3 of the way completed down Highland.
LEGAL DEPARTMENT - Tom Hanculak
There was nothing to report.
FIRE - Chief Mohr
There was nothing to report.
FINANCE - Phillip Brett
Mr. Brett apologized for the late addition of Ordinance 2007-12 on the agenda. He was looking
last night on the internet for the scheduling for Community Development Block Grants. He was
at the County site and noticed a County Innovation Zone Program which is a pilot program that
stems out of the 2006 Cuyahoga County Strategic Plan. The applications were already finalized
March lst. He came across this last night. This is a program that the County is doing which is
essentially what Mayfield Village has been doing for the last two years along Beta Drive. They
axe looking for sites where they want to promote and facilitate the development of knowledge-
based industries and to provide the situs for those industries in those particular spots. It is a great
overlay for what we are doing with the Beta Strategy Group. The information sheet with a11 of
the details was provided to everyone this evening. If it is approved by Council this evening, Mr.
Brett will sit down with Ted Theofrastus tomorrow, filling in some of the blanks on the
application. Mr. Brett hopes to get it in by Friday at Noon, which is the deadline.
