Minutes of the Combined Caucus/Council Meeting
7-16-07
Page 3
understanding that it is working fairly well. Chief Dearden added that there have been no
complaints.
Mayor Rinker shared that some of the feedback he has had from residents especially along Metro
Park has really been very favorable to Camino Construction. It sounds like they have gone an
extra measure to communicate and follow through with things. Mayor Rinker asked Mr.
Cappello if that has been his experience. Mr. Cappello agreed, stating that there have been some
issues here and there. Any time he receives calls from residents on issues regarding the project,
they have complimented the contractor. Mayor Rinker complimented the fact that everyone has
been following through. In past memory, when we have had these, we typically would have
anywhere from two to three or four neighborhood meetings to keep people apprised. We have
had essentially one before everything began. Since that time, residents have generally been
pretty positive about things. That is a good commentary for everyone. We appreciate it.
Mr. Buckholtz stated that he drove up there and with regard to the signalization would like to ask
who owns the brand new portable traffic signal units with solar panels on them. Mr. Cappello
advised that Camino leased those from a Canadian company. ODOT uses this type of
signalization a lot on bridge replacements. It works really well. We are pretty happy with it. Mr.
Buckholtz added that everyone was so worried about this project because of all of the traffic
problems everywhere else. This is working great. Mrs. Mills added that they also have those on
Chardon Road where they are doing the bridge over the river.
LEGAL DEPARTMENT - Diane Calta
There was nothing to report.
FIRE - Chief Mohr
Chief Mohr reported that they are through with their hydrant flushing program for the summer.
Several hydrants have been turned in to Cleveland for repair. Also, if you recall this past winter
we had a project with Mayfield Heights where we split 50-50 on traffic pre-emption at Lander at
Ridgebury. That light is installed, very timely, with the amount of traffic now going up and
down that road now because of Mayfield Road. That is functional.
FINANCE - Philip Brett
Mr. Brett reported that Council received the Finance Director's report in a small notebook with
the following items:
Section 1- Tax Budget - That hearing is essentially over. The Ordinance is in the front
page of Section 1. Section 2- Appropriation Ordinance - That was discussed at the last Council meeting.
Transfers were reduced to infrastructure and improvement fund, S.O.M. Center Road
fund and the municipal center fund to make up for the new transfer to the Civic Center.
