Minutes of the Council Meeting
October 22, 2007
Page 15

Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mrs. Cinco, made a motion to withdraw the motion to enact Ordinance
No. 2007-24.
Ordinance No. 2007-24 will be left on first read and will go on second read in November.
Further information on this project will be discussed at the November Caucus.
First Reading of Resolution No. 2007-17, entitled, "A Resolution accepting the amounts and
rates as determined by the Budget Commission and authorizing the necessary tax levies and
certifying them to the County Auditor." Introduced by Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole.
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mrs. Cinco, made a motion to adopt Resolution No. 2007-17.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion Carried
Resolution Adopted
Council President Buckholtz asked if there was any discussion. There were no comments.
CLOSING COMME1vTS
Council President Buckholtz asked if there were any additional comments.
Mr. Marrie asked about the list of businesses whose liquor permits have expired. He
does not see Village Food Mart listed. They do have a license. Mr. Brett advised that they may
come up at different times.
Mayor Rinker advised that Tom's report on the progress at Highland Road was a little bit
understated. If you have not seen the underpass, the final landscaping is going in. We virtually
have the trial linkage except for about three small gaps from Beta all the way up to White Road.
This underpass is going to be a very dramatic component of it, especially with all of the
landscaping in that area. The passage through there is really exceptional. The paving there,
depending again on the weather should be taking place over the next several days so the path in
the vicinity of the underpass itself will be paved. Lighting and other materials will be added as
time goes on. It is all part of the package deal for that underpass.
Mayor Rinker reported that we had the Writer's Conference here two weekends ago. The
feedback we received was exceptional. Attendance was very good. We had 8-10 authors of note,
a couple in the running for Pulitzer Prize. People whose books turned into screenplays, for
example Ron Powers, who wrote Flags of Our Fathers. The overall use of our new facility came
into play. People were very impressed. They were our first real show. We were putting in
chewing gum and getting all of the lighting done until about two hours before they 'got started. It
was a great success. We are encouraged. Everyone should come to the Open House on Sunday.
To see this in action with the lighting and the sound system. Everything has come together very
