Minutes of the Council Meeting
December 17, 2007
Page 2

Council President Buckholtz asked if there was any discussion. Council President Buckholtz
reiterated that this is a wonderful award.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Resolution Adopted
Sue Groszek thanked the Mayor and Council for their past and continued support of the Mayfield
Schools. Schools are only as good as the communities they serve. On behalf of the Mayfield
Schools, the Resolution is gladly accepted. Not only that, but we would like to raise you a
Proclamation. Sue brought George Hughes with her this evening because he has an expert
reading voice. Just as communities and schools have an important partnership and use their
resources wisely, she is going to use her resource wisely and let George read from the
Proclamation.
Mr. Hughes read Proclamation No. 2007-05, a copy of which is attached to these Minutes.
Mayor Rinker thanked Mr. Hughes. Council President Buckholtz wished the Mayfield Schools a
Happy New Year and continued success.
[OPEN- PORTION
5-minute limit imposed by Chair. Those who wish to speak must first state their name and address.
Barbara Keptner
6796 Seneca
Mayfield Village
Mrs. Keptner asked about Fairmount Arts Center. Are they paying rent to the Village? What
is the situation? Mayor Rinker replied that they have not been paying rent so far because we have
been trying to develop a program. We have been letting them use the facility. People pay for the
programs themselves and then when we have certain events, we do charge an admission for those
events when there is a presentation.
Mrs. Keptner asked that when the church was using this, didn't they rent? Mayor Rinker
replied that they paid some rent. We have a number of organizations that do.
Mrs. Keptner asked, but right now they do not pay the Village anytlvng? Mayor Rinker
responded that is correct. But it is one of the things we have been looking at. We have been trying to
develop an arts program. One of the items on there is how we will structure a way to pay for a lot of
the services that are provided.
