Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council <br />Monday, December 19, 2016 <br />Page 5 <br />Mr. Marrie stated, 50 or 60.children and families. <br />Mr. Thomas continued, it was a great turnout. <br />Mr. Marrie stated, probably twice as many adults. <br />Mr. Thomas added, as always, the Recreation Board did a great job preparing for it and <br />running it that day. Thank you Rec Board. This Friday at 7:00 we are holding our <br />Winter Solstice walk with the Wetlands Committee. Service will have a fire going in The <br />Grove, weather permitting. If it is raining, I think we will be closer to the picnic shelter <br />at the pool. We will play it by ear. The Committee will .have hot chocolate and <br />marshmallows for roasting and toasting. <br />Commission on Aging -The next meeting will beheld on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at <br />11:00 in the Community Room. Discussion will be on the holiday party recap, new <br />activities, trips and the anniversary party for 2017. <br />Parks and Recreation Board -The Board did not meet in December due to all of the <br />volunteer work that they do for the party. Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, <br />January 18t1~ at 7:00 here in this room. <br />Senior Services -Seniors have until December 31St to submit their applications of paid <br />contracts to opt out of snow removal. No applications will be accepted after that date. To <br />date, there are 104 applications to opt out. To date there are 224 total applications to opt <br />in to the snow removal program, 200 single and 24 circular driveways. Volunteers from <br />AARP will offer income tax assistance to residents on Monday, February 20t1i at 12:00, <br />1:00, 2:00 or 3:00. Residents should call the Senior Services office to make an <br />appointment. The riext Community Partnership on Aging movie will be on Wednesday, <br />February 8th. Over 70 seniors attended the Holiday Party on December 9th. It was such a <br />wonderful party. Everyone raved about the Community Room. It •was a very nice event. <br />We had a former opera singer lead the singing for all of the seniors that day. Over 30 <br />seniors went on a trip to Higbee's Silver Grille on December 7th. They said they enjoyed <br />the trip very much. Last but not least, one stroke painting will begin in January as well as <br />new sessions in cooking and baking classes, watercolor, Spanish lessons, knitting, <br />crocheting and bereavement. <br />Chief Edelman (Police): I will reserve comments for my agenda items. Thank you. <br />Doug Metzt~ng (Service): Thank you Council President. A few items. Leaf season is over. <br />We have taken possession of our new front end loader that we purchased over the summer. We <br />immediately put it in to service because they took the old one away. It's a wonderful machine. <br />Thank you very much. One other item I should have mentioned for Mr. Cappello's report. First <br />off, Mr. Cappello for those that have not heard was in a very bad two-car accident. He hurt the <br />
