Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council <br />Monday, Apri1- 15, 2013 <br />Page 5 <br />POLICE - Chief Edelman <br /> <br />Chief Edelman reported, on April 6th and 7'h, the Police Department hosted our first ever <br />concealed carry and handgun safety class for a grand total of 16 students, Village residents. I am <br />happy to say that everyone passed. We have another class scheduled for May 4th and Sth. There <br />will be another 16 people. We have a waiting list for a further class later on in the summer. <br />Mayor Rinker stated, I think Council was provided with a number of letters. I can't recall an <br />event that the Village has sponsored where we have gotten such positive and immediate feedback <br />from as many people. It clearly is a very popular program. <br />PARKS.& RECREATIONBill Thomas. <br />Mr. Thomas reported, we have three contractors working at Parkview Pool. The first one is <br />Aquaseal, that's the rubberized surface we are putting on at the 0-42 inch depth. They are <br />resealing the playground and resealing the turtle azea, the preschool water play area. That gets <br />done today. We are one-third done. The next contractor is the sandblaster. They will be there on <br />Monday, April 22°d. We should be able to finish that job within three or four days. We are <br />thinking that the painter will come by no later than May 1". So they have from May lst to May <br />20'h to finish the paint job at the pool, weather permitti.ng. We are pretty much on schedule. I am <br />real pleased rvith the way things are going right now. <br />The Senior Service report, just a couple items. We had lunch and a movie, it was Argo which just <br />came out a year ago. We had 76 participants. That's the largest we have ever had f.or that <br />program. The first session of Senior Stroll and Nature Walk through the Metro resezvation <br />b:appened:today: We lzad a beaWful day;£or that. The:n;ext;trip we have scheduled is going to the <br />C.leyeland Musewn of?1rt That is on Weilnesday the 24`"`: A movie entitled Laura sponsored by <br />Co?nmu?uty Partnexsliip on Agmg ;will. be helcl ?on Apral : 18 t`. Free bingo will be held on April <br />26t?' sporisored_ :by Cqi?fortkeepe?'s: The last item. is fhe next Lunch and Movie will be held on <br /> <br />ARGHITECT - Ron Dinar_do. <br />There was nothing to report. <br />PLANNING DEPARTMENT.._-_.Ted.._Esborn <br />Mr. Esborn has two updates, one on East Commons and one on Governor's Village. I will give <br />those when we reach the corresponding Ordinances. <br />ADNIINISTRATION - Diane Wolitamuth <br />There was nothing to report.
