Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council Tuesday, Februazy 21, 2012 Page 6 Mr. Thomas sta.ted, I thought this was an excellent job by Michael. We are really proud of the program. The bottom line is you need people in order to run this type of program and the collaboration from the School to Health 360, to Pizza Roma, but the Committee is really what makes it. We really appreciate all that Michael did and a11 of the time and effort and Sue driving him around and all the locations. That was just the Fa11 programs. We have close to 60 programs that we are very proud. of. It's really an outstanding program. I give credit to Ann because aga.in in 2004, we have 2 programs and she lit a fire under me and said, Bill, we need to do more than this. Hopefully I've met her expectations somewhat. Thank you for letting us have this time, Council President. Council President Buckholtz stated, that was great. Mrs. Regan stated, thanks everyone. This helps a lot of people. Mr. Thomas sta.ted; the bottom line, I told all these people that we go around and say without the support of Council and the Mayor, we couldn't do it. It's amazing how many communities and municipalities do not offer this type of program because they may not feel comfortable, the liability issues or support of Council. We appreciate your allowing us to do this. Council President Buckholtz sta.ted, I think it's great. That was really amazingly impressive. Ann and I go back a long way. You have been working on this a long time to get this going. We often talk about public private partnerships and non-profit partnerships and we talk about it with development, making money and all this kind of stuff, but this is an example, because we couldn't get it done with just the School, couldn't get it done with just the community, but with private enterprises and everything together. How many participants are in this? Mr. Thomas replied, I was going to say, at least 500-700. Council President Buckholtz asked, and you are using school facilities and other places? Mr. Thomas replied, school facilities, Health 360, the two classes where you saw the guy with the drums. We use that on Thursday nights. On Tuesday nights is Yoga Reach. We have 30-40 participants in that program. We aze very proud. We are reaching a lot of people. The parents of the person with the disability truly appreciate all we do. Council President Buckholtz asked, how far is the reach from who can be in this program? Is it just the Hillcrest azea or the school system? Mr. Thomas replied, very good question. We started out with an elementary age, 6-12. We found that was not our niche. We were not getting enough participants. We decided teen through adult. So we could have a 13 year old all the way up to a 65 year old. Council President Buckholtz asked, but from what communities, anywhere or just here?
