Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, August 20, 2012
Page 9
. Motion to authorize ezpenditure in an amount not to exceed $6,000.00 to Gaeta
Interiors, Inc. for painting of the steeple at Civic Center.
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Dr. Parker, made a motion to authorize expenditure in an amount not to
exceed $6,000.00 to Gaeta Interiors, Inc. for painting of the steeple at Civic Center.
Council President Buckholtz asked if there was any discussion. There was none.
Roll Ca11: AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion Carried
Expenditure Authorized
Motion to acknowledge receipt of financial reports for July 2012 and to
approve of same as submitted.
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Delguyd, made a motion to acknowledge receipt of financial
reports for July 2012 and to approve of same as submitted.
Council President Buckholtz asked if there was any discussion.
Mr. Wynne stated, you might have noticed in the report that our tax collections for the month of
July exceeded last year's by about $448,000. Part of this was an increase, but most of it was the
result of a timing difference. We had three collection periods during the month of July of this
year where we only had two last year. You will see next month for the month of August we only
have two collection periods this year and we had three last year, so about $448,000 will flip next
month. The good news is on the year to date basis, after taking into consideration August's
collections, we are about $100,000 ahead of where we were last year. Last year was a bantier
year. I didn't even think we are going to be in the ballpark of last year's numbers. To me that
was not possible. We are exceeding it right now. We are in excellenf shape as far as tax
collections go.
On the expense side, expenses are about a half million dollars higher this time this year than last
year. The large part of that is the front end funding of the MERP program as part of the medical
plan for the employees. As you know from the reports from Doug, we have an awful lot of
capital projects going on right now in the Village. A lot of the additional cost there had to do
with some of the front end work needed from an engineering standpoint to get those projects off
the ground. That's where the majority of the money is being spent.
Council President Buckholtz stated, nice job on that report. Any other questions or comments?
There were none.
Roll Call: AYES: All Motion Carried
NAYS: None Receipt of Financial Reports
for July 2012 Acknowledged
and Authorized
