Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council <br />Monday, November 17, 2014 <br />Page 5 <br />FINANCE -Ron Wynne <br />There was no separate report this evening. <br />POLICE -Chief Richard Edelman <br />Chief Edelman stated, I have a couple agenda items this evening. Also, this past Thursday, the <br />Fire Chief and I along with my School Resource Officer and the Chief Ranger from the <br />Metroparks met with the Center School PTA to discuss child safety and safety in general along <br />the trail and in the schools. We had a similar discussion with what this gentleman was talking <br />about with safety on the trails. If you would not mind, I would like to call you tomorrow to <br />discuss it further. It was a lively discussion and a lot information was passed back and forth. <br />PARKS AND RECREATION -Bill Thomas <br />Mr. Thomas reported, as Doug said, winter arrived early. The Grove sledding hill will be ready <br />for use as soon as we get our signs up. Wildcat Sports and Fitness hired an Aquatics Supervisor. <br />We will be offering a learn to swim program beginning Saturday, January l0d'. We have over 70 <br />families that want to take learn to swim. We will be starting our Spring/Summer planning. It's <br />underway even though the snow is out there. <br />For the senior report, an exhibit of watercolor pictures are out on the walls from November <br />through the end of December. A reception was held for the artists and their families on <br />November 8d'. A special thank you to Patsy Mills for her help with the reception. Last month, the <br />second annual Mayfield Art Show was held at the Library. The next Lunch N Movie is <br />December 3rd. The movie is Bridges of Madison County. Reservations are due by November 26th <br />Fifty people registered for the free lunch and learn program on November 21St. The topic is How <br />to get a good night's sleep. Afoot clinic will be held on December Sd' and 12d' from 1:00 to <br />3:00. Upcoming trips on November 19d': we will have a lunch and tour of the Canton Woman's <br />Club and the First Ladies Museum. On December 3rd, we will tour Stan Hywett Hall in Akron. <br />On December 4d' we will go to the State Theater to see Irving Berlin's White Ch~•istmas. All <br />three trips are sold out. We are currently taking reservations for the Holiday Party on December <br />12th for Village residents, ages 60 and over. It will be held at the Community Room from 12:00- <br />. 3:00. Reservations are due by December Sd'. <br />ARCHITECT -Ron DflNardo <br />There was no report. <br />PLANNING DEPARTIVIENT -Ted Esborn <br />Mr. Esborn reiterated that the ribbon cutting is on December 4~' at 4:00 p.m. It is required for our <br />Ohio EPA Swif Grant for the Civic Center Driveway project. We are doing the ribbon cutting in <br />conjunction with Chagrin River Watershed Partner's Board meeting which they are holding in <br />
