This type of <br />zoning is used on in-fill lots. <br />Council President Buckholtz noted permanent parcel no. 831-13-017 appears incorrectly on the <br />Public Hearing agenda; (as 831-13-007.) He clarified the correct parcel number is 831-13-017. <br />Mrs. Roman noted the correct permanent parcel number was printed in the Notice of Public <br />Hearing that was published in the newspaper. <br />Council President Buckholtz said I would like to ask Mr. Diemert just to mention: we are not voting <br />on it at this meeting-but at our Regular Council Meeting which will be later tonight--we will be <br />voting on it, but just explain that all we are voting on is to send it to the ballot. It's our policy, -our <br />Charter, that the residents vote on it. <br />Mr. Diemert said this only permits the voters to make a decision whether or not we want a zoning <br />classification of this nature. More importantly, it is something that voters have had a year or so to <br />look at and quite a considerable time to study and will be open for future reference and use as well. <br />Council President Buckholtz said Judge Krenzler has been a priving force with this project in getting <br />a number of the Village Committees (2020 Committee, Planning and Zoning Commission) to <br />establish this zoning classification. We have actually toured much of the eastern suburbs of <br />Cleveland looking at developments that we didn't like, and developments that we did like and we <br />`~ think that at least in terms of the artist's rendering, what is being planned for this site is going to be <br />quite spectacular, something that will be an asset to the community. <br />Mayor Rinker said the only other point: I think it is beneficial for everyone here to realize under our <br />Charter any property that is going to be changed from its current zoning classification must be <br />submitted to a popular vote-the referendum vote. Earlier this year, the legislative category-the <br />classification-for this type of residential development was created. That went through a process <br />where Council ended up passing the legislation as Council President Buckholtz noted. There was <br />pretty extensive dialog (especially in the Planning and Zoning Commission) by the time it arrived at <br />Council. But even though the category exists, it is still up to the voters to determine whether or not <br />and where that category would apply; where that classification could be utilized. Earlier this year <br />(we have shown you some drawings and I apologize not having them out in front of us now) but if <br />you would look at some of the development changes that are going on on S.O.M. Center Road, one <br />of them is the reason S.O.M. is closed right now-is the dip is going to get filled in. instead of a <br />bridge to span the vale there, it is going to be 12' of earth elevated up so the roadway will be much <br />straighter. In that location we are actually placing an underpass, a pedestrian underpass, which is <br />immediately adjacent to Judge Krenzler's property. In fact, he's had to even make a little bit of an <br />adjustment to accommodate what we anticipate would be the curb cut into the site that is part of this <br />ballot issue. In all, there are 6 acres; 4 of those acres today are zoned commercially. They are zoned <br />for an office-laboratory usage. Those are the ones that are further, deeper in off of S.O.M. Then the <br />two other acres which front on S.O.M. which are currently zoned for single-family, residential, <br />which in Mayfield Village historically has been essentially %2 acre lots (one house for every %2 acre.) <br />_ t, This particular proposal: on the 6 acres, I believe, there will be 25 of these units so it means they are <br />~_~ going to be a little bit closer together. Mayfield Village, in anticipation of all this work, just about a <br />month ago has purchased a property that lies immediately to the south or between Judge Krenzler's <br />property where these are going to go, and Fisher's Tavern.
