Regular & Caucus Minutes <br />8-18-03 <br />Page 8 <br />2020 Vision Committee - Mr. Marquardt said there was no report. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />OPEN PORTION - Re~ardin~ items under Old Business <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />^ Snow Removal -individual motion(s) to award contract(s). <br />Note: Bid opening was Friday, 8-15-03; see Mrs. Cinco's report under <br />Finance/Safety & Service for their recommendations. <br />Dr. Parker, seconded by Mr. Marrie, made a motion to award the contracts as follows: <br />^ A & G Landscape - 3 sections @ $150/drive <br />^ One section to SummerBreeze at $160/drive; <br />^ 2 sections to Xtreme at $192/drive; and <br />^ 2 sections to Perfecturf at $169.20/drive <br />Council President Buckholtz asked if there was any discussion. <br />Mr. Riter asked for clarification-is it tradition that we do not necessarily go with the lowest <br />bidder? We want to get all houses taken care of. <br />Mr. Diemert said we allowed them to separate their bids. We wanted to spread it out. <br />Mr. Riter questioned, we have the right to make the decision that they can't handle a116? <br />Mr. Diemert said yes, we can take the lowest and best bid. <br />Dr. Parker explained that in the past we had the experience that certain people were unable to <br />perform. <br />Mr. Riter said he just wants to make sure we have legal justification for not taking just the lowest <br />bid. <br />Mr. Diemert said you have the right to determine lowest and best. <br />Council President Buckholtz asked, any other comments? <br />There were none. <br />Roll Call: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None Motion Carried <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />
