Regular Council Meeting <br />9-22-03 <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />Mayor Rinker asked them to step forward and said when Chief Dearden says long and aYduous, <br />that is not taken lightly. That is very accurate. It is a very comprehensive testing program and <br />background check, so [for them] to be able to stand up here before you all is quite an honor and <br />privilege. <br />J <br />Mayor Rinker administered oath of offices to Stuart Galicz and Mark Schooler as Full-Time <br />Patrolmen. <br />Mayor Rinker and Council President Buckholtz suggested everyone take a few minutes to take <br />photos and enjoy the refreshments. <br />Council recessed for about 15 minutes, reconvening at 8:25 p.m. <br />COMMENTS FROM COUNCIL PRESIDENT BUCKHOLTZ: <br />Council President Buckholtz said he had no comments. <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS: <br />Building - Mr. Samac reported the Progressive office building is moving along smoothly. They <br />were starting to lay out the block the last day or so. It will be seen coming out of the ground in <br />the near future. <br />Parks & Recreation - Mr. Thomas said he will be having a meeting with the 8-9 principal, Susan <br />Beatty, with her staff and the Mayfield Heights' Recreation Director to talk about our team <br />special event which will be for our 6th _ 9th graders. That will occur in November. Our first Pi <br />Society road trip is scheduled September 26. We are taking the Pi Society members to Jacobs <br />Field for a behind the scenes tour of their computer system on their scoreboard and other areas. <br />In cooperation with Mayfield Heights' Recreation we took a full busload of adults to Seneca <br />Casino. Casino trips are extremely popular. Our Fall special events include Halloween Window <br />Painting, Pumpkin Carving, and our Halloween Party will take place October 25. <br />STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS: <br />Activities Committee -Mrs. Roman said the Activities Committee will be meeting next month <br />to make plans for the next event which is the Tree Lighting Ceremony. We have touched bases <br />with the schools; they have it on their calendar and are all planning to be there so we are all very <br />excited. <br />Architectural Review Board - Mr. Samac said at our last meeting we approved an addition to a <br />detached garage. <br />Board of Appeals - Mr. Samac said there were no agenda items since our last meeting. <br />1 <br />0 <br />
