Regular Council Meeting <br />9-22-03 <br />Page 5 <br />' Cemetery -Mrs. Mills said the Horticulture students were at the Historical House today working <br />and also at the Cemetery. <br />Citizen's Advisory Board - Mr. Riter said the next Citizen's Advisory Committee meeting will <br />be Monday, September 29. <br />Commission on Aging -Mrs. Mills read the report from Mrs. Kalina, attached. <br />Safety and Service -Mrs. Cinco said Safety & Service met September 8. We had discussion <br />about the cost of snow removal; it will remain at $100. We discussed the temporary parking for <br />construction workers on the Progressive project that were again discussed this evening in <br />Finance. The Fire Safety House purchase was discussed. That is on the agenda tonight and that <br />will remain on the Safety & Service agenda. Mr. Metzung gave us an update on the road <br />program; at that time we were halfway done. Discussion [was also held] on sidewalks and <br />treelawn trees in the Aintree Park neighborhood. There needs to be more discussion on this <br />because it is a policy issue. Upper 40 Creek Restoration - we will be getting bids shortly for that. <br />Mr. Brett explained how we saved $200,000 using fill [dirt] moved from Wiley to the dip. It was <br />key in the dip being opened in time. Kudos go to Tom Evans for coming up with the idea. <br />Finance Committee -Mrs. Mills said the Finance Committee met this evening and <br />recommended approval of the following [Refer to Finance agenda attached] items: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, <br />6, 7, 8, and 9. <br />Hillcrest Council of Councils - Mr. Riter said they met September 6. James Draper, Director of <br />Emergency Management for the City of Cleveland, spoke. He spoke on the recent blackout as <br />well as the event that went on at the Lewis Building at CWRU. It was very interesting hearing <br />him discuss some of the "behind the scene" events that occurred that we didn't read about in the <br />newspapers or see on television. <br />Historical Society -Mrs. Mills said they had a very good turnout at the Ice Cream Social. Lots <br />of good cookies and ice cream and a lot of people toured the [historical] house. Our first meeting <br />will be September 17. An appraiser will be coming in to appraise your antiques on October 15. <br />In October, we are starting with a doll show every Sunday from 2-4. <br />Mrs. Cinco questioned who won the quilt and Mrs. Mills replied the niece of one of the ladies <br />who quilts there; she bought about $30 worth of tickets. <br />M.A.R.C. - Mr. Mamie said M.A.R.C.'s Hockey League began on Sunday the 7t~' at Gilmore's <br />Ice Rink. The Punt, Pass & Kick for boys and girls age 8-15 was held last Saturday at Mayfield <br />High School. There are 2 new Fall art courses being offered. The annual M.A.R.C. Art Show <br />will be held on Sunday, October 12 at Mayfield Regional Library. The registration for the MBA <br />Youth Basketball was held last week. Packets were sent out to over 200 participants from last <br />year's MBA. <br />Ordinance Review Committee - Mr. Marquardt said no meeting; no report. <br />
