ROUGHDRAFT -NOT REVIEWED OR APPROVED BY COUNCIL
10-20-03
Regular Council Meeting
Page 19
circumvent people's wishes. I sat in on those meetings and people said well it would be nice if I
could get in and out of my driveway, if it looks good. I'm not sure what it's going to be like. We .are
in the middle of a road widening project. Processes change. Things change. We own considerable
more land on S.O.M. Center than we did at one time. I think the effort here is to put in the best
possible road; the safest, the nicest looking, the least impact or the nicest impact to the residential
nature of it. That is the intention here. I am going to say that I don't think the actual residential
drawings are, no pun intended: etched in stone. I think that they are pretty much the Engineer's
recommendations but exactly where curb cuts go, how large they are or what the landscaping is
going to be is all, I believe, open for negotiation, or at least to some degree. So again, it is never a
closed door policy and it is never done in secret that I'm aware of. I would like to say that and as far
as moving the open portions; that's not a problem. Donna, make a note that the open portions should
come before-I guess Old Business should be before Old Business and New Business Open Portion
should be before New Business.
Mrs. Roman said okay; so you don't want them before and after each? You are just going to do them
before?
Council President Buckholtz said just as a matter of policy people can talk about anything at the
front of the meeting, make comments about Old Business prior to us discussing it and make
comments on New Business prior to the voting.
Mrs. Roman said okay
Council President Buckholtz said as far as I am concerned, that covers it. If you have something new
to add, please share it with us. .
Mr. Christian said one more thought. Nobody on S.O.M. Center knows that you've changed this.
Everybody is under the assumption-that lives on that. street that the median is going to stop at the
Church. No one on the road that lives down there knows that you are going to continue that median
except the people in this room.
Council President Buckholtz said I don't know that. Do you know that?
Mr. Christian asked, did you go out and tell anybody? Did you tell anybody else other than the
people in this room? Has anybody been notified that you changed your mind and you're going to
continue this median----
Mr. Riter asked, can Service drop a note.
Mayor Rinker said I've said it so many times, I'm not-I disagree with you. I don't think you speak
for too many people other than yourself.
Mr. Marquardt said but the truth is---
