ROUGHDRAFT - NOT REVIEWED OR APPROVED BY COUNCIL
10-20-03
Regular Council Meeting
•' ~ Page 2
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Minutes Approved
Special Meeting of Council -September 29 2003
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Riter, made a motion to approve the minutes.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Minutes Approved
COI\~MENTS FROM MA~'OR RINKER
Mayor Rinker said Mr. Samac is out of town on vacation.
Mayor Rinker said he had previously provided to Council a memorandum concerning what has
been identified as Ordinance 2003-37 which is the extension of landscaped medians on S.O.M.
Center Road. I think you all know pretty well by now where I stand on the issue. Candidly I
would have liked to have seen medians extended even further and even more generous, wider
medians but I think the effort over time has demonstrated that by being able to extend it down as
far as Fisher's it's going to have a dramatic effect as it is. I think that this is a great opportunity
for us to demonstrate that we're not only providing an improvement to a highway but we are also
able to provide a way to safeguard the residential quality of that entire stretch and in fact I think
we can even enhance it. I think medians will go a long way toward that.
Mayor Rinker said on a somewhat similar vein, I noticed that the amendment to the agenda,
that's Ordinance 2003-38. Again, this is to start looking at preliminary draft drawings for the
trail that would run though what we've identified as park land. That is the former Falkner
property. This is to be able to create a trail in there. At very least I think what it would do is
enhance the value of that property as park land. And it is just one more step in the direction of
creating a greenway that will create along the entire S.O.M. corridor a much more usable,
enjoyable area of.the Village.
COl~'Il~'IENTS FROM COUNCIL PRESIDENT BUCIiHOLTZ
.Council President Buckholtz said he had no comments at this time.
DEPARTMENT BEAD REPORTS
~ Service - Mr. Metzung reported that the electrical building at Village Circle has been moved by
~. > the County Sanitary Engineers.
