Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council <br />Monday, September 21, 2015 <br />Page 5 <br />Sergeant -category then they -would be allowed to compete. However, the -Civil Service <br />Coininission has the option of also including outside competitors for the position. So the language that the Board of Elections ultimately decided on although it's not what <br />we decided on and what this Council adopted, it is what's going to be on the ballot. There's not <br />much we can do about it. They have the final say-so on ballot language. <br />FIRE -Chief Eugene Carcioppolo <br />Chief Carcioppolo reported, we received our air compressor. It will be hooked up by the electric <br />company so we can get it started up and running. Our new engine is about 1-2 weeks out before <br />we can put it in service. Everyone's doing driver's training. We have been working on fitting it <br />with all our equipment. We should be getting our windows in the next two to three weeks. <br />Council President Marrie asked, are you still thinking about an Open House? <br />Chief Carcioppolo replied, we are thinking of doing something during Fire Prevention Week in <br />October. We will revisit that. <br />FINANCE -Ron Wynne <br />Mr. Wynne stated, I will reserve my comments when items come up on the agenda. <br />POLICE -Chief Richard Edelman <br />Chief Edelman stated, I have one item on the agenda this evening. I will report when we get to <br />that. <br />PARKS & RECREATION - Eill Thomas <br />Mr. Thomas reported, on Wednesday, September 2nd from 6:00-8:00 p.m., we held our first <br />Healthy Mayfield at Wildcat Sport and Fitness. We had approximately 500 participants attend. It <br />was sponsored by the four communities, the School District, Cleveland Metroparks, County <br />Library and the Cleveland Clinic and merchants from our School District, like our own Orange <br />Leaf which had ice cream and yogurt. Every community there had a fire truck on display. <br />Mayfield Village supplied the generator for electricity. <br />In regards to Wildcat Sport and Fitness, it continues to take shape. Classrooms 131, 132 and 133 <br />are now available for community programming during the day. The Cleveland Clinic has two <br />classrooms for acute care visits such as cold, flu, strep, sinus, minor lacerations and other aches <br />and pains. That will be available first to our Mayfield School District employees at no cost and <br />
