Regular Council Meeting Minutes <br />3-15-10 <br />Page 4 <br />STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS: <br />Activities CoYr?mittee - Mrs. Mills reported that there was no meeting this month. She passed <br />around a sign-up sheet for volunteers for the Mother's Day Pancake Breakfast. We will be <br />meeting next month. <br />Architectural Review Board - An update on the police station was provided in Mr. Dinardo's <br />report. <br />Beautification Comtnittee- There was no report. The next meeting is on the 291h. There is talk <br />of changing that due to the Jewish Holiday. <br />Board of Anneals - There was no meeting. There is no report. <br />Cemetery - There was no report. <br />Citizen's Advisorv The Committee met on March 2nd and received instructions by Jeff <br />Thomas, who took us through the new website that the Village has. He went into great detail. <br />It's very complete. It will cover just about everything, including our new project with the <br />Citizen's Advisory with the Malachi House and Veteran's collection site. We also spent a lot of <br />time and Ron Wynne went into great detail with the tax proposal explaining it all. He gave us <br />examples of how it would affect people working here and living in another city, etc. Doug even <br />explained his situation where in Mentor it would not really cost him anything. There were other <br />examples. At this time, when we had this, Ron hadn't talked to Progressive. Mr. Marrie does <br />not know where that stands, but at that point we were sort of up in the air on how they felt. The <br />brochure that has been mailed out to all of the residents was discussed in great detail. There <br />were a lot of suggestions and some changes made. There was a lot of detaiT in that discussion <br />about what we should or shouldn't do or what this would affect and what that would affect. <br />Diane presented it to us and made the notes and said the changes would be made in the new one <br />going out which they have. A few other miscellaneous items that were discussed - Jim Mason <br />was re-elected Chairman. Mary Singer talked about the Memorial Day event at the Cemetery. <br />The flags will be put out on May 29t' between 9:30 until finished, probably about Noon. <br />Services at Whitehaven will be at 1:00 on the 30th. There is no speaker yet. That will be <br />announced later. The next meeting is April6tn <br />With regard to the website, Mayor Rinker added that it really is designed as a platform, a <br />foundation on which one can build. As an example, not exclusive, is the different homeowners <br />groups have the opportunity to provide information. Jeff will basically be the clearinghouse, the <br />administrator for the site. A good website requires constant upgrading. One of the ways to do it <br />is to encourage constituents of the fact that what they see is not what they have to be content <br />with. They can add to it. With homeowners groups, they can start using it as an opportunity to <br />advertise things going on; to give more information about a particular neighborhood. It would be <br />good for photos. We still have to take a lot of pictures of personnel within the Village. It is a <br />work in progress.
