Minutes of a Public Hearing
October 6, 2010
Page 26
Q: How many is that?
Mr. Farmer: Zero.
Q: Thank you. I'd like to know one other thing - pardon me?
Mr. Farmer: It's not Planning and Zoning Commission's problem, it's not Charter Review
Commission's problem. You didn't show up. You were invited.
Q: I understand. But the Mayor tried to make a point that it was open to the public.
?x * *
Q: I want to know how many deals, to your recollection, anybody on the panel, have fallen
through because of referendum voting in the last 15 years, much less 26?
Mayor Rinker: The last deal was a moratorium that Council issued in the mid 180's for
development of the Weissburg property. T'he property owner sued and the Court
determined that the Village inappropriately imposed a moratorium. That's the last deal
I'm aware of.
Q: We have not lost any deals for development of Mayf'ield Village over the last 26 years.
' Mayor Rinker: Well I don't know if we've lost any deals. I'm not sure what deals have come
forward or would have come forward otherwise. . That's a different question. We can
only speculate on that.
Q: You don't recollect we lost any deals? Mr. Farmer: How would we know that?

Mayor Rinker; Do you understand my answer?
Q: Because somebody would have come up to the Planning Commission and say, "I don't
want to develop in Mayfield Village because of referendum voting." Apparently nobody
says that.
Mr. Farmer: No, they just disappear.
