Council Meeting - 7/18/05 Page 3 Mr. Thomas said that he has .staff through Sunday, the 28a' of August, he has some staff but he doesn't know if he even has staffto work Labor Day weekend. Mayor Rinker stated that was correct, we are not going to extend it during the week, just for the weekends. He further stated that we did extend it in the past during the week and had a customized set of hours to adapt to the school schedule and did it for two summers running, and then ended up abandoning it because it was difficult to staff. He stated that getting someone there that is dependable is difficult and he suspects this year, we will almost be on a day-to-day basis. Mrs. Eisenberg asked if we could just extend it for the weekends, like Mayfield Heights does. Mayor Rinker stated we can just try, yes. Mr. Thomas stated the midnight swim is July 31~`; we will be closing for the Summer Sizzler. We have about 400 swimmers that are there from about 8 A1VI until 4 P1VI. We wanted to offer another option for our residents so from 7:00 PM until 10:30 PM, it is open to the public, family evening open swim. Mr. Marne asked Mr. Thomas if it would pay to make a phone call to Mayfield Heights just to see how they staff it; maybe they have somebody on the Mayfield Heights payroll, rather than summer help; or, maybe they also have teachers but work on weekends. Mr. Thomas stated that he would make the call and wanted to make sure Council meant on Labor Day Weekend. Mrs. Eisenberg said no, she meant all weekends into mid September, not just Labor Day. Mr. Thomas said that he has it covered for Saturday and Sunday, August 27a' and 28'i'.
