,- <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF COUNCIL <br />October 24, 2005 <br />Mayfield Village Community Room <br />The Council of Mayfield Village met in regular session on Monday, October 24, 2005 at <br />approximately 8:00 p.m. in the Mayfield Village Senior Center/Community Room. Council <br />President Buckholtz called the meeting to order. <br />ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Buckholtz, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Marquardt, Mr. Marcie, <br />Mrs. Mills, Dr. Parker and Mr. Saponaro <br />Absent: None <br />Also Present: Mayor Rinker, Mr. Brett, Ms. Calta, Mr. Chapman, Chief Dearden, <br />Mr. Marrelli, Mr. Metzung, Chief Mohr, Mr. Thomas and <br />Mrs. Betsa <br />Absent: Mr. Cappello <br />The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given. <br />OPEN PQt2TIQN <br />5-minute limit imposed by Chair. Those who wish to speak must first state their name and address. <br />Kirk Simmons, 6777 Wildwood Trail, Mayfield Village, Ohio <br />Kirk addressed the Council to discuss the issue of Halloween hours and his request that the <br />hours be extended to 9:00 p.m. He indicated that this would allow for more time for people <br />to go door to door. Personally, he likes to stay at his house for a while and pass out candy <br />and then go out around 6:30 p.m. If the hours are extended, he could stay at his house for a <br />while and then go out for a couple hours. He would greatly appreciate it if Council could <br />discuss this and change it in the future. <br />Mr. Buckholtz stated that he was thrilled that Kirk has come before Council. Mr. Buckholtz <br />understood through the grapevine that someone had suggested sending a letter, but Kirk wanted to <br />approach Council and talk to them directly and Mr. Buckholtz thinks this is great. Mr. Buckholtz <br />encouraged Kirk to let his friends know that this is what Council is here for. When you have issues, <br />people of all ages you should come forward. That is what this forum is for. Mr. Buckholtz advised <br />Kirk that he was an inspiration to everyone. Mr. Buckholtz asked Chief Dearden to explain the <br />procedure. Mr. Buckholtz is not sure of what it is. It used to be that there was no time limit, you just <br />celebrated Halloween. Mr. Buckholtz asked Chief Dearden how we got these hours and where they <br />came from. <br />Chief Dearden believes that it just came from a standard set not just by this community, but <br />by a large number of communities in the area based on two issues, security of the children out and <br />
