Regular Council Meeting
12/19/05
Page 7
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Activities Committee - Mr. Thomas reported that approximately 250 people attended the
special holiday concert by the Singing Angels this past Saturday. The MVP's held a bake
sale with the proceeds going towards the cancer relay, American Cancer Society. They were
both successful fundraising events. Donna extends a sincere thank you to all who helped.
The last Activities Committee meeting was held October 24th. At that meeting, the
Committee discussed all winter events and wanted to remind you about the Winter Solstice
celebration sponsored by the Wetlands Committee Wednesday, December 21St, 6-8. Those
who would like to attend should call the Civic Center to make resrervations because they will
have refreshments. The Menorah Lighting Ceremony will be held on Monday, December
26th at 7:00 p.m. Bring latkes to share. Refreshments will be served. Bring your canned
good donations to the Mayfield Village police department for the Hunger Drive. Coats,
scarves and hats are also being collected for our Mayfield Village mitten tree. If anyone
would like to volunteer for one of the events, please contact Donna at the Parks and
Recreation Department.
Architectural Review Board - Mr. Marrelli reported that there was no Architectural
Review Board meeting, so there is nothing to report.
Board of Appeals - Mr. Marrelli indicated that there was no meeting, so there is no report.
Cemetery - Mr. Saponaro indicated there was no report.
Citizen's Advisory Board - Mr. Saponaro reported that everyone should have received in
their packets Minutes from the last meeting which was held on Monday, November 28th. A
revised copy then was distributed changing some of the language in the New Business
portion. During that time, Mr. Saponaro had discussed with the Committee that we wanted to
focus on projects in addition to dealing with just a wide range of issues and talking about
various things that are going on in the community. The Committee would take on various
projects, whatever they would be. That was incorrectly reported as, we would do projects as
opposed to dealing with the basic issues in the community. Mr. Saponaro wanted to make
sure everyone knows that "as opposed to" should have read as "in addition to". Certainly
read through the Minutes, if anyone has any questions, let us know. Our next meeting will
take place after the new year after the Committee is selected. Mr. Saponaro encouraged all
Council members to submit names of individuals from their areas to our Council President
and to the Mayor for consideration. This is a great Committee to get various citizens
involved in.
Commission on Aging -Mrs. Mills read the report from Eunice Kalina, Human Services
Director, attached.
Drainage & Infrastructure/Stormwater Mgt. -There was no meeting, so there is nothing
to report.
