MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF COUNCIL
Mayfield Village
January 24, 2005
The Council of Mayf`ield Village met in regular session on Monday, January 24, 2005, at
8:00 p.m. in the Mayfield Village Senior Center/Community Room. Council President
Buckholtz called the meeting to order.
ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Buckholtz, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Marquardt,
Mr. Marrie, Mrs. Mills, Dr. Stephan Parker and Mr. Saponaro
Absent: None
Also Present: Mayor Rinker, Mr. Brett, Mr. Chapman, Mr. Diemert,
Mr. Marrelli, Mr. Metzung, Chief Mohr,
Mr.Thomas and Mrs. Roman
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.
OPEN PORTION 5-minute limit imposed by Chair. Those who wish to speak must first state their name and address.
Mr. Marquardt said Bob Stabile from 691 S.O.M. Center Road could not be here tonight and
---? asked me to present an issue to Council on his behalf. This is from a letter from him dated
January 21, 2005. [Mr. Marquardt read the letter; a copy is attached to the minutes as a
_ permanent record.]
Council President Buckholtz said I think we've all received copies of that letter.
Several members of Council said no; other ones but not of that.
Mr. Marquardt said so I guess my question is what is the Village's position on this and is his
statement that the Village is planning to renege on the assurance to Wanda Hejcl that she would
have a pass-through so that she could make a left turn coming out of her driveway?
Mayor Rinker said well without belaboring all the issues because I will state that I have had 3
discussions with Dr. Stabile. I would suggest that he has mischaracterized most of it; however, I
would state that historically when we were there in 2002, Tom Evans as one of the Consulting
Engineers would have truthfully told Dr. Stabile that we didn't have medians there because at the
time it had been the understanding that medians would only be north of Highland Road.Despite
the fact that we knew that this was a treahnent that was popular and something that we wanted to
be able to use as a safety device as a calming effect along S.O.M. and subsequently that was
voted, unfortunately, Dr. Stabile either did not get the information that had been provided
previously, because in the fall of 2003, when the voting change was made, we made sure to
advise all the residents along there to be sure they could see the plan. So I can't explain why Dr.
Stabile didn't get this until December of 2004. It was toward the end of the month that he called
me. We are, in fact, revisiting a number of the pass-through areas in the vicinity especially south
-_? of Beta in between Beta and Highland because there are safety aspects as far as crossing points.
In the vicinity of Dr. Stabile and Wanda's properties, there is going to be an opening because of
the Krenzler property. In 2002 we weren't sure if there would be one there at all or what the
