Regular Council Meeting <br />4-16-01 <br />- Page 3 <br />Commission on ARiniz - Mr. Busa read the report from Mrs. Kalina. Mrs. Kalina's father passed <br />away. [Condolences were extendeci.] <br />Safety and Service,-- Mrs. Cinco said there was no report. <br />Finance Committee - Dr. Parker said the committee met tonight. They discussed and <br />recommended,approval of items 1 and 2; action was deferred on item #3 and there will probably <br />be legislation iti May; item #4 was discussed-a secondary insurance carrier (AFLAC) to be <br />offered (not eMdorsed by the Village); Mr. Brett may.wish to embellish on this. <br />Mr. Brett explained the Village's only participation (as with Deferred Compensation) would be <br />to handle the bpokkeeping and payroll decluction providing employees the ability to sign up but <br />the Village dops not endorse any of the current programs. This just provides employees the <br />ability to sign up with these programs and have payroll deduction. <br />Dr. Parker said item #5 was added; it is regarding a letter from Vern Hartenberg of the <br />Metroparks. The proposal for an engineering work-up of tlie Upper 40 tributary watershed was <br />$71,801 (whioh.wnuld_be.dividedbetwe?enths,Village,_Gates_Mills.a.td.the Metroparks.) The <br />committee voted to approve that; we need to hear from Gates Mills as to whether they are in <br />favor. The MeZxoparks was in favor of this also. 'I1iis is not an approval for any type of greater <br />expenditures. W?wouldbe looking, at_potential -construction costs._ T1ere_is_no. conunitment on <br />anyone's part beyond this study. <br />Hillcrest Couno of Councils - Nirs. Cinco said t`here is no report. <br />Historical Socieiv - Iylrs..Mills ga.ve, the_report (attached.), _ <br />M.A.R.C. - Mrs. Cinco said M.A.R.C met on Apri15. Over 170 children from 0- 8th grade <br />participated in ?kie IVIBA program. There has been an overwhelrrung response to this program as <br />well as ice hov+ey for which 50 children have signed up. Bill Thomas has added a lot to this <br />committee, a lnt.of ideas and.enth uasm ani_the_pro.grams, are,just taking_off. <br />Ordinance Review Committee - Mr. Busa said the committee met last week and discussed a <br />couple of ordinances. Our task is not finished at this moment. <br />Planning and Zoning - Mrs. Mills said the Comrpission has been studying off-street parking <br />regulations. We will continue on our study at our next workshop. It will be presented to Council <br />after it is all in line. <br />Recreation Bo,gd - N1r. Buckholtz was on vacation. 1VIrs. Cinco said fhe Teen Adventure Camp <br />(newthisyear)_filledits c}uota.of50 for_the_firstsessionand.needs_9 more_to fillzhe_secQnd_ <br />session. There are 125 children signed up for the regular camp. <br />Sewer Liaison Committee - Dr. Parker said there is no meeting planned.
